The only downside would be that you would have to connect your genny to the deck socket when you wanted to use generator power. Do you know if your inverter can operate in UPS mode and are you sure it is not also a charger? If so this can save a lot of money requiring only a shoreline, a powerpoint with built in RCD, a hull earth connection plus a GI if you think you need it.
