Webasto boiler - red deisel vs white??

Featured Posts

After a problem with our Webasto central heating boiler recently, (it stopped working) when it was checked out by a technician (from the said company) he found that the burners were completely coked up, so much so that they had melted, then he took the boiler out to check that (because the damage was so extensive) & lo & behold the boiler was just as bad. Hence a quote for £250 turned into a bill for £550 because he had to replace all the parts inc the boiler. 13 weeks later it still isn't working, after being fsupposedly fixed 4 weeks ago, it packed up after 8 hours running time, with black smoke pouring out of the exhaust.

This time it's turned out to be a faulty flame sensor, this is a new problem, it's a new sensor he installed & we've been told it was faulty & needs to be replaced, we are now in our 4th week of waiting for the replacement part... For those of you who're technically minded, this flame sensor is supposed to detect the burners when the CH is switched on & start a fan up to cool them down. Without this working the boiler can't burn the fuel operly so shuts down for safety reasons.

We've been told the culprit is red deisel, which we totally understand, however we've also been told that Webasto boilers were designed to use red deisel, then again we've heard they were designed to use only white deisel, hence the problem of gunged up burners can be laid firmly at red deisel as being the problem.

The big question is, does anyone know whether these Webasto boilers were designed for use with red deisel or white deisel. We've heard so many conflicting stories, I'd really like to get this clarified.

Needless to say after all this trouble we'll be converting to a Kerosene tank as soon as possible as it burns much cleaner, plus is less expensive to buy - & before the red deisel price goes up in Nov!!
