Fire wood

Can anyone please help me with the rules of collecting firewood. Mainly in the form of fallen trees?

If on private land, ask the owner and usually they will be delighted to have it taken away, If obstructing rights of way, same sort of thing but no one to ask. If the wood is turning into a wildlife haven, leave some stashed for the insects, fungus etc, and if very rotten leave it, the wildlife will appreciate it more than you will, especially when you consider transporting it!

Laws? Don't think they protect these insects particularly, so it's your job when hunting wood!

My intention was not in any way to implicate the OP in the theft, it was just a remarkable coincidence that within half an hour of reading his post, the Malvern came through with some timber from a big overhanging clearance job.

I remarked to John that he seemed rather lightly loaded, compared to previous trips, & he explained why!

Doubtful, it might well turn over anyway

 

Almost certainly taken by road, by someone who was organised to do it.

I ask an innocent question, intended to keep on the correct side of the law next thing I know, is the Gallows are being erected! Seems to me, if I sue, I'll be able to afford coal! Cheers :-)
