Moley
Last Monday, coming back down the Shroppie, approaching Autherley stop lock we were behind a young crew of complete novice hirers. They got themselves grounded, or hung up on the shelf by the hire base. We waited behind while they tried to get free. I jumped ship and tried to get them all to the far side of their boat while I pushed. They were stuck fast. We went ahead and tried to snatch them off by rope. I then got our aluminium scaffolding pole and levered their stern while a couple of lads pushed the front. My pole did the trick, but one of the lads realised too late that he'd pushed the boat too far, with inevitable consequences. Laugh! We pinched their lock and left them to it. Jon
This has been asked many times of the last couple of years, most recently: http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=7709 With that in mind, I'll close this one and it can continue in the above thread if required.
