  1. I have often heard this stated, but never been able to find a source for it.

     

    BMEA Code of practice for Electrical & Electronic istallations in small craft/ISO 10133/ISO 13297

     

    Section 3.11.3

    "An ac circuit shall not be contained in the same wiring system as a dc circuit unless one of the following methods of separation is used."

     

    It goes on to mention screening, trunking, conduit and "fixed directly to a surface and separated by at least 100mm" as means of achieving this.

     

    The BSS won't mind but it will not be RCD compliant if you cannot achieve this.

     

    The next section 3.11.4 also mentions ac cables being "routed above forseeable levels of bilge water"
