untilAfter the success of the cruises of the past five years it is the intention of the Society to hold two cruises in 2012 to encourage boaters to explore the Birmingham Canal Navigations either side of the BCN Society’s Summer Rally at Titford. We have found that many boaters prefer the additional security of cruising in company with other boaters and they enjoy the social side of informal gatherings and organised activities at the designated mooring locations. Priority will be given to boaters who have not been on a BCNS Explorer Cruise before. Stops for the night:- Sunday 20th – Wolverhampton, Monday 21st - Pelsall Common, Tuesday 22n d – Longwood Boat Club on Daw End Branch, Wednesday 23rd – Ocker Hill, Thursday 24th – Tipton evening walk/talk, Friday 25th – Visit to Smethwick Pump House then to Birmingham evening walk/talk, Saturday 26th – Hawne Basin on Dudley No.2 Canal. I've just read several comments on the BCN 24 Hour Challenge and felt the need to confirm the fact that this is indeed taking place on 2nd/3rd June 2012 giving you Bank Holiday Monday to take your boat away from Walsall Town Basin. We have had difficulty agreeing a date as there was consideration given to a possible Festival at Droitwich at which some of our members would have been involved. This is now not taking place in 2012. The next problem we had was the poor health of Graham Whorton, past Chairman of our BCN Society, who along with Roy Kenn co-ordinated the event. Graham did all the computer side of the event while Roy, who is not a computer man does the planning and receiving the entry forms. We have now found someone to take Graham's place and all is now on track. Regarding the web site!!! We are sorry but we are changing from one site to another but as you say it's all down to people & time!!! Let's hope the new year will get it up & running properly.
