  1. I have only ever 'phoned CaRT to complain about their recent letter and I now await their written reply, hopefully the matter will then be finally resolved to our mutual satisfaction. I will not 'phone CaRT again until I require our next licence in May or I have a safety problem I wish to report. I will comply with all licence conditions until the end of the licence, I also believe that there is no requirement to inform CaRT where the boat is when not licenced as I am then not bound by their terms and conditions once I'm off their water?
  2. Thanks for the link, another case of common sense winning over corporate abuse.
  3. Part of a Government tick box initative.
  4. That was their mistake, they quoted an Act of parliament as their authority to enter whilst they were fully aware that they had misled me regarding the 'opt out' clause and implementation dates. Because I challenged their statement that they had a right to fit a 'smart meter' by legal force if necessary, seemed reasonable to challenge that assertion.
  5. Nope, only on the repressive use of authority where it is not necessary.
  6. It's just a longish continuation of the first BW threat to tow, seems to rear its ugly head every time there is a change of area manager and now resurfaces with the transfer of management to CaRT
  7. The same as we did when the local electricity authority threatened to forcibly enter our property, (with police back-up) to install a 'smart meter', fight the case and win!
  8. A long story. A BW manager sent a minion to enter a private boat yard and affix a threatening letter to our boat stating that we were on BW water and our boat would be towed away if we did not pay up. We thought the matter would rest there as the legal implications were fully explained to BW. Unfortunately the matter still continues.
  9. Thank you for the very sensible and reasonable post.
  10. Since the first time BW threatened to tow my boat from private waters.
  11. I did speak to Cart first but I was not convinced that this matter could be sorted as there appeared to be no 'Manager' available who could explain any policy. I still await a requested letter to finally clarify this issue sorted permanently. My original post was to enquire if this had happened to anyone else, a simple yes/no would seem more appropriate than vitriolic comments.
  12. I can only repeat, any conditions expired with the licence!
  13. I will be very disappointed if you are suggesting all BW records were not passed on to CaRT.
  14. The boat has not changed its mooring for 10 years.
  15. The terms and conditions of our licence expired with the licence!
  16. You miss the point, they have already attempted to 'fine' us £150.
  17. Seems threatening to us as it appears to imply that they had already 'fined' us £150! We also have two written apologies from BW so the fact the issue continues= harassment?
  18. Since around 2001 we have only ever licenced our boat for six months from May-October and moored in private water for the winter, BW were made aware of this fact on at least two occasions; they eventually apologized in writing for their mis-handling of a relatively simple situation. This year I received a rather threatening letter from CaRT and would inquire if anyone else has suffered similar harassment?
  19. If you do get around to having the injectors checked take care with Lucas, they pronounced ours as OK twice when we had black smoke problems as they only checked the pressure settings and spray. pattern. (Lister HA2) We eventually took them to Roger Drennen as everything else checked out OK, he diagnosed the problem as incorrect nozzles in about 5 minutes. http://www.boatsandwatersportswebsite.co.uk/cotswold-diesel-services (The engine was originally from a paper mill emergency pump that was serviced annually but never used!)
  20. Tardebigge, just back towards tunnel from top lock.
  21. I managed to ring CRT before they went home and it would appear our boat was not logged at that location last week. Will pass on to Police anyway.
  22. Fully concur with your assessment of a difficult issue but must take some blame as I failed to motivate myself off the couch to see who my wife was mumbling with! Agree, I will pursue this matter a little further and see where it goes.
  23. Black trousers & top ticks a box. CRT was going to be the next port of call after taking some opinions on here. Time for CRT officials to display photo ID, methinks.
  24. When I questioned my wife on the encounter she described him as being smartly dressed with what she thought was a military/police sort of bearing, also looked like he could look after himself. TV man was one of our thoughts at the time.
  25. Whilst at a mooring a gentleman arrived and engaged my wife in conversation. One of his first questions was, "Are you on your own", her reply was "No, his Lordships inside watching the telly. He then moves down the line of boats and appeared to be checking boat numbers, on his return he asked, "How can he be watching the telly as you do not have an aerial". Wife points to large DM log aerial (on 6 foot mast) and he then departs. Worrying when one considers his main interest appeared to be whether my wife was alone!
