We are interested in a 35ft semi-trad narrowboat, built in 1982.
It's on the market for £15,000.
On first appearances it looks great - we will arrange a hull survey.
It needs aesthetic work done on the inside and has a very small kitchen and shower room.
It's just an open-plan shell really.
How do we know if this a good deal or a rip-off? We've been told we'll need to pay around £1,000 a foot for a decent narrowboat and obviously this is a long way short of that.
We can't afford to 'waste' money on lots of surveys while we're looking.
We don't need anything stunning inside, just something that is structurally sound.
We'd be really grateful for any advice.
