  1. Fitted by Louis & Joshua in 2001, I believe the stove was fitted in 2003
  2. Paul from Lockgate Stoves had a look at the stove today. Excellent service explaining what he was doing and why. There was a small leak around the regulator then running under the stove. Paul removed the regulator, set it back up on his jig in the van, and changed olives and nuts on the connections. He removed the stove and cleaned up the diesel underneath. Low flame is massively lower than before, explaining the high consumption before. The Facebook Reflex group is helpful, but there are nuances with these stoves. I had a look at the instructions for adjusting the High and low flame screws, but they are for a Toby regulator and unlike many Reflex stoves, my 2062MK has a different regulator, and you have to turn the screws the other way. I was advised to call Lockgate, and it was the right advice. The stove is running well, and I feel like I had a crash course in running and maintaining it going forward.
  3. I have a Webasto diesel heater that runs runs three rads, and has a coil in the Calorifier. The Refleks oil heater 62 only keeps the salon and galley warm.
  4. On setting 3 it's a much bigger flame and you can hear the expansion as it heats up. Agreed, I did get a so called expert in to look at it, but it just got ripped off. I'm going to call Lockgate tomorrow, as several people have suggested.
  5. It's definitely on low flame; I do turn it up to 3 some evenings, but only for a few hours. I will have to test how much the consumption goes up when I have it in a higher setting. it's about 19 degrees around the stove, and it definitely is not belting out heat. I also get this fine mist of diesel to build up on the aluminium base plate, which also makes me think some diesel is going unburnt.
  6. It's a Refleks 62. Total heat output: 2.4 kW (2100 kcal/h) Fuel consumption: min. / max. 0.12 / 0.36 l/h Even on max, it should be using less than it is. Thanks, I have posted on there as well.
  7. Hi, this is my first winter on my narrowboat and the first time using the Reflex stove for prolonged periods. Diesel consumption on low flame is supposed to be 2.88 litres per 24 hours; I have just gone through 40 litres in 5 days. 8 litres in 24 hours is way more than it should be using. Has anyone had similar issues, or do you have examples of what amounts they are using? This is what it looks like on low flame.
  8. Thanks for the help with this. It turned out to be a push-fit connector at the top of the calorifier. There is a drain-off, but I think I will have to get it to Syphon! and empty enough of the water out to change the fitting. I have done plenty of domestic plumbing, but this will be my first time on a boat,
  9. Every now and then my water pump that is situated next to the water tank runs for a few seconds. And the regularity of this is increasing. I'm concerned there is a small leak somewhere because the pump runs when you open a tap, flush the loo etc. so I can only think, I'm losing a very small amount of water somewhere that is causing the pump to run. as it getting more frequent I am the leak is getting worse. I would appreciate your thoughts.
  10. Trad stern Figured they were originally used a ballast, but why there, have they moved? the bilge is isolated!
  11. Done everything right, just there systems have a two-week lag apparently. the C&RTs guy was lovely and we had a nice chat, all good
  12. Dude the first cyclists I saw today had just stuck a please get in touch with CRT sticker on my window. if I started throwing engineering bricks at him I doubt I would still have a licence! Interesting, from what I picked up on, he is a very practical guy and that would make sense
  13. Thanks, The stern gland seems to be sealing fine; I like the idea of a bole/Tupperware, something to catch the water when the prop shaft is warm.
  14. Thanks, Tupperware is a great idea. I thought it looked a mess, I just don't have the confidence yet to be sure.
  15. I have been the proud owner of a Narrowboat for three weeks now. It's a great learning curve, and I'm really enjoying it. The Bilge has courted my attention, mainly because it looks a bit of a mess to me. I don't understand why the bricks are in there and why the pump leaves so much water. What I'm thinking is clear it out, repaint, fit the pump better or change the pump. Your thoughts would be appreciated, Richard
  16. Moved on to Wagtail on Good Friday! Rugby boat sales were amazing and I'm so glad I followed my instinct as a total noob to play it safe. I love this boat! Currently moored in Blisworth, Intending to go through the Blisworth tunnel on Thursday. any advice would be much appreciated. The previous owner has also been amazing, had a two-hour handover, an incredible amount of paperwork, Waytail has been well looked after and I intend to do the same.
  17. Thanks for your help everyone, I made an offer on Wagtail yesterday and it's been accepted. Can't wait to get on and underway I will be bringing her back from Rugby boats to Hemel Hempstead.
  18. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely get a survey, as you say when spending as much it just makes sence. I felt so comfortable on Hattie just wondering around opening hatches, and the Gardner engine was something else.
  19. Yes the cafe was great and the guys were supper helpful and friendly, sorting keys and letting us look around. Yes, I have spoken with them and they have Residential and Lesure
  20. In a week or two, I should be ready to buy a narrowboat, depending on solicitors! For months, I have been looking at Appolo duck and reading the threads on here. I intend to moor the boat at Hemel marina, as my work is all around Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. I have a small ltd, and we do bathroom renovations and property maintenance, so I'm fairly handy. Looking to live aboard by myself, recently divorced, and apparently a cliche in the narrowboat world. I went with a friend first to Whilton Marina and looked at CHUFFIN SPARROW, ANAHATA, TWO JAYS, and SLINDON Photos tell a thousand lies, and viewing these was enough to put any sane person off buying a narrow boat. We then went to Rugby boats and had a look at Wagtail and Hattie. We looked at Wagtail. First, and it's a beautiful boat. You can see it has been well maintained and the interior is a different level to what we had seen earlier. A really lovely boat. Hattie from Norton Canes was something else. my Dad is from Cannock, Staffordshire, just round the corner from Norton Canes. Hattie just sang to me; the Gardner Engine and the engine room were amazing; I just loved this boat. Could do with bringing back to earth before I just go and buy a piece of cannel history far too impulsively.
  21. defiantly I was put off by the no survey wanted Search criteria, solo live onboard 50ft + budget 60k Hertfordshire, Northampton
  22. Thanks that's helpful Liverpool boats and Colecrft keep coming up in my shortlists
