Reading these reports of vandalism and abuse reminded me of our first holiday on a narrowboat. It was 65' long and we were turning it (towards the end of the week) when we were the objects of verbal abuse and threats from the owners of what would happen if we bumped their boat. It would have been enough to put the wind up you. Anyway the elderly couple continued to sip their wine and shout at us. I was very pleased when having executed the perfect (103 point) turn we raised our glasses to them and cordialy wished them a good day! They did not put us of and now we are waiting for our shell to be finished, I just hope that I will never react in the way they did.

Hi, Does anyone know what is needed to use your boat as a hotel. What restrictions if any, also if anyone is already doing this what advice would you give to a novice?

Hi all, We have taken the plunge and paid a deposit for a shell which we are going to kit out ourselves. That was the easy bit, as after lots of research (all great fun) we are stuck with a few things. First to pump out or not? Second what is the best way to have pleanty hot water and keep warm? Also how do you keep contact with e-mail and lastly how do you find out if the name you have chosen is already used? That will do for starters but anyone out there got any other information which you think might help, all ideas welcome. Thanks
