  1. have a look and see if the gas pipe runs along under the gunnel, if it does it could be condensation dripping off the pipe.
  2. I have had the same problem with Numax, also with a leasure battery you only take them down to 50% discharge, any lower than that and you will damage the battery. 2 years ago I bought 4 105 amphr Trogan deep cycle batteries off the internet, these you take down to 20%. We live aboard our boat and during the Sping/Summer we go off for about 5/6 months cruising. I have had no problem at all, in fact in the information book that comes with them it teels you how to look after them and it also states that after several discharge/recharges they will improve their performance, they have. I have two 70 amp alternators with Stirling regulators, when out cruising I will use about 100 amps overnight, telly, fridge etc, when I run the engine next morning it puts about 95 amps in, it takes about two and a half hours to fully charge them again, I am well pleased with them. Just google Trogan, they cost about £130 each and are a similar size to 110 leasure Batteries.

  4. Hi, this is nothing to do with alternators, it's about your Boat "Misterton", we have just passed it on the Thames at Staines on our Narrowboat "The Lady of Avenel". The reason I am sending this is because your boat used to be moored up at Stainforth near Doncaster in S. Yorks near our marina The Thorne Cruising Club. She is looking good, you have made a good job of her. Have you seen "Daybreak" in Staines around the back of the little island, it is also from Hull but it has been fully restored with all the sails and rigging. Keith.
  5. Coventry is worth a visit, the canal to the basin is not wonderful however the Basin is very tidy. The National Motor museum is 10 mins walk away and it's free. Coventry is also worth a look around, see if you can find Spon Street. Regards Keith. NB The Lady Of Avenel.
  6. This is my first post on the forum so be gentle with me. We are going to do the Thames this summer in our 60ft nb The Lady of Avenel, we are going from Doncaster, South Yorkshire to Limehouse and come off the Thames at Oxford. However looking at the maps I fancy doing the River Wey Navigation and the Basingstoke Canal, Has anyone any experience of these waterways, your advice and comments would be welcome. We are retired and have a gold licence so we don't have to rush. Regards Keith & Sue.
