I Take it as there’s nothing on here then there’s no boats in working trim for sale?

..not as easy to find as one might hope actually...I've been looking for a while.. 🙂

If I ever sell my pretty little 'historic', I have a list of people in mind who have asked me to tell them if I ever sell before advertising it. My main concern will to choose someone who will appreciate the boat, understand it and look after it. If they can't afford the asking price I have in mind I am likely to be VERY flexible and virtually give it away to the right person as I'd rather that than than get top money from someone who doesn't seem that interested or well-informed about historics and canal history. It certainly won't be going to a broker.

.. after chatting with a couple of folk selling - it does matter to them who they sell to - they want their boat to go to a good home who will appreciate " it " 🤷🙂

Listed on the CBOA website. Still trading.

    Thank you

  3. Yes - I've got a LinkedIn profile already and I've sent a message...I don't think it's an active profile for him but it was worth a punt.. 🙂👍

    Thanks Alan...

I will continue looking for an unconverted Grand Union in meantime or tug...I'm in no rush...

    Cheers

Just the steelwork. Add to that fitting out and painting the cabin, an engine plus installation, shutts & running gear and all the rest of the titivation.

Yes mate....I've had a couple of these working boats before and made a few new ones back in day... 🙂🙃👍

Well I’ve just had a word with my sparky chum down the other end of the yard (Dave Ross) and the thirty second, ball park figure is £60,000 for a boat like Arundel, no rivets, false or otherwise.

    THANK YOU 👊🥰

    ...that's just what I needed...

    Cheers

I mean....... I 'could' build another one, but given the non standard hull construction, this would easily be a 6 figure hull. but, she'll swim beautifully and I hope I do the knobstick lines justice.

..and she looks incredible Dan 🙏😎

I'm more thinking a Grand Union or possibly Waterways motor...those Knobstick lines are beyound my reach 😁

  7. Thanks guys ....there have been some new build working boats built over the years - some to my eye have been very decent boats where others have lacked the shape somehow... Arundel looks really correct to me 🙂😎

I can put a rough figure to steel but the skill is hard to quantify.... 🤷

I'm not having much luck finding an unconverted motor available so just considering options...

    🙂👍

    My take

    Too expensive for a deconversion

    Bit crap for a liveaboard

    Wooden forward cabin

    Yeah I agree....

Too much for a wooden under clothes " conversion " ..timber backcabin and survey done by a fella not heard off so much in working boat worlds.. 🤷

She's worth whatever someone will pay and vendor accept and Id be interested but the asking price is just to high to start the conversation..

what they go for and what they should go for is very different ..... I'd say a motor would be around 60k and a butty 20 to 25k, 'stars' tend to price slightly higher than 'towns'. having said that for the right boat woth the right work done..... maybe double that estimate?

some have been on the market a while, and whilst needing work, at the right price could be seen as a good deal.

Butties come and go but most of these sales seem to be snapped up by coal operators before anyone knows they would be coming on the market.

..thats interesting ....Ive seen adverts for converted GU around the £60k mark so unconverted about same..?

  10. Its an incredible build you are doing and this is such a great thread 🙂 ..I check here for updates and to read the discussions regularly and wanted to say thank you for sharing it here 👍👊

I loved the Progress ( GUCCCo ) thread when that was getting updated regularly as well but that one has fallen away ..

    Good for you 👍🙏
