  1. Richard You beat me to it the only thing I can add is if you cant get gasket paper try "thick" brown paper (pehaps double) soaked in oil. By the way I have only used flushing oil once in my long life it was on a Triumph 2000 and ............yes I seized it Ivor.
  2. Hi There We hope to travel from Sawley to Macclesfield this weekend. We tried this run a few weeks ago but high winds and loads of rain stopped us at Fradley. I have "sussed" the route on canal planner and "checked" for any stoppages on waterscape and neither show any problems but, I place more trust in you guys. Can anyone out there give me any "sensible" advice please on mooring sites, vandal areas, or any other areas we should be weary off. I must add that we are still classed as "newbies" as we have only had the boat for a year and not traveled too much.
  3. Many years ago Jauar used to "enamal" the maifold of their exausts. Mayby this is still carried out "somewhere". Otherwise, as another member has said Halfords (or ebay) sell high temp paint for exhaust's and brake caliper.
  4. Sorry to be thick but. what is "prop pulse" please Tried that with holy water, Newcie brown and "my own water" did not work.
  5. Hi There Can anyone tell me why my tiller shakes/vibrates when travelling. the shaking seems to increase when moved offcenter ie. turning under load. When I turn the boat under low speed the shaking decreases. Any comments please.

    satellite telly

Being VERY new to narrowboating (had a 23` GRP cruiser for 3 years decided to "do it" proper now) I have had an idea, and your experience/thoughts will go a long way with my dilemma. I want to watch telly in the after a long day's sailing (is it sailing or boating ?) and I thought that if I used a satellite dish the type they use on motor homes that fold down when not in use with a satellite receiver "box" I would be able to receive freeview. The theory behind this is the majority of canals are surrounded banks and a dish will point skywards thus less obstructions (trees accepted) instead of an aerial that relies on "line of site". What do you think please?
