  1. I had the same problem. Look at the clag in the square D switch. Mine was full. The switch might not be detecting pressure changes due to this accumulation.
  2. The construction around the river lock at Stratford make access to the lock from the river extreemly difficult. The signs say use your BWB key to gain access, the only thing they don't say is that you have to moor your boat on the oposite bank of the river and walk over the bridge to operate the lock. if you are single handed you then have to walk back and get the boat. Otherwise climb the lock gate. Access to the site, with only slight modification to the security/safety fencing would change the whole issue.
  3. When we cruised through Northamptonshire about three weeks ago we were advised to boil drinking water, particularly around Daventry. There is a post on one of the web sites, I think Waterscape advising the same. We are about to return through this area. Does anyone know if this alert is still valid?
  4. Hardness of steel depends upon the carbon content, the higher the carbon content the harder the steel will be when quenched. Quenching is effective only when rapidly cooled from above about 600 degrees centigrade and cooled to below about 200 degrees in under a minute. The carbon content of most steels used in boat construction is less than 0.1% and would not in the case of a fire and even rapid cooling by a fire engine give a significant hardening. Buckling of the plates is by far the biggest problem. This is caused by the heat relieving the stresses of rolling and fabrication.
