  1. Hi All Just to update I did pass Callcutt and yes they did have the parts. I did manage to get the cover off, cleaned and replaced, but it is a hell of a job. In hind site I think I could have got away with taking the bolts out one at a time and adding a copper washer as this is what I did leaving the olive in and it seems to have worked, it is worth atry if you only have a weep from the bolt. Thanks Frank
  2. OK Folks Thank's for all the info, I will be going past Callcut next week so will pop in maybe easier to explain in person. Just a note this has come about since I fitted a second alternator on that side of the engine, it then started to show signs of oil only very small amounts but the alternator is drawing it I think, my first thought was that it was coming from the breather which on mine is off the rocker cover to the air intake, so i took that off and put it in a bottle under the engine, but it has made no differance so as I noticed a slight weeping from both bolts I am hopeing that if I can stop the leak it will stop the oil mist I am getting now. Anyway thank's again all Frank
  3. Just read through all the posts and would like to add, when I added a second alternator to my BMC 1.8 (callcut) I found in the process that the engin mounting was cracked through, on inspecting the new parts I found that the new mountings supplied had been modified and strengthand so maybe it is worth rubbing a rag over the mounting to make sure it is still sound. Frank
  4. Hi Alan It is Turkish do you have any address for non-marine I have tried my local unipart and they reconised the rocker cover part No. stright away, but could not find any referance for the side cover one. I think it will be best to get a piece of cork and cut it myself. Thanks anyway Frank Hi Albi this is Turkish and only one plate, do AMC have a web site or is it a phone job Thanks Frank
  5. ASAP Do not do side cover gaskets. Calcutt said they needed to know if it was a Turkish or British engine and they might be able to get one. Sorry I don't know AMC. Thanks Frank
  6. Hi Don't know if anyone can help, but I have a small oil leak from my side cover gasket. A) I cant find a spare which I would like to do before undoing the nuts. The manual I have lists gasket, bolt, and o-ring. If this is a standard o-ring it is likely to have perished as the engine is 18 yrs old, but it dosen't sound very good and I am wondering if I replace the o-rings with copper washers it might cure the problem. Any comments will be appreacted. Thanks Frank
