  1. maybe she thinks they will be riding penny farthings and if they were none of them fell in either by the sounds of it thats about the only way i know of on a bike to get 8 feet in the air .Apart from if some idiot pulls out in front of you on your vfr without looking and i would have cleared the fence as well i wonder what she would have come up with then,Accidents happen when your enjoying yourself I wish HS people would let people enjoy there persuits without trying to control everything.I hope she never goes over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct .
  2. now we are getting somewhere i agree with you i dont see why its an issue either what harm is being done i also like the fact of ccers someone mentioned to me that if people dont keep cruising then the canals get shallower and in fact they have especially since working boats are not in as big a numbers as they should be .Also someone mentioned retain control of network or should it be regain there network that they let fall into disrepair. And without the people who thought that they would live on the canals cheaply or not and people who worked for love not money we would have nothing imho maybe but im new to boating but not to history .
  3. if youve still got that fish and its alive shove a pair of reins on it tie it to front of boat and use that instead of an engine that would break some ice up hehe
  4. So do you agree then that i can move on 60 feet or so pull over and stay another 14 days because im not a ccer
  5. I totally agree but i dont see what it has to do with the part of the canal which is not marked with a time limit other than what seems to be in the licence.Which i dont see as something you could end up in court over I dont want to continuosly want to moor anywhere but niether do accept that an authority can move you from an area which has no time limit set on it .Its a bit like saying i can park my car anywhere on the roads as long as its taxed apart from outside your house when you say i cant not meant at you personally.
  6. Hi just been past the above mentioned lock keepers house looks in a sorry state just wondering if anyone has any photos of it in its hey day or whenever really to see how much it has fallen into disrepair and also any pictures of the old lock at the side of it that looks as if it went into the river Calder but is blocked up at the back and now has a blackberry bush growing over lock gates
  7. plus kindle lasts for weeks on a charge you can also get a cover in leather to prtect it but the neat thing about the cover is it clips to the kindles battery and the cover has its on led light fixed to it that you pull out from the corner to light the front but you dont ned to hold the light its brilliant bit of kit
  8. im not saying i want to abuse anything .its just that it says constant cruisers must move probably main reason is as bw sees it they havent paid for a mooring. So bw says they must move in 14 days no problem with that as thats what they have agreed to .But what im saying is if i have a mooring in Skipton L&L paying the appropriate fee as required. Then I travel Cambridge and like it there and because i have some time i decide to stay 6 weeks not on a visitor moorings but on tow path can i do this and if not why not not meant to wind anyone up just a genuine question.
  9. I sort of fully understand ccing laws for example place and two weeks but my question is this. If you have a licence and a mooring how long can you stay in one place for if its not a visitors mooring.
  10. hi do you happen to know when the open weekend is this year by any chance

  12. those pictures are exactly what i was after if you find anymore of them no matter how many it would be great to receive them thanks for your time Steve your a star. just looking at your photos on flicker brilliant pictures got to elysium looking at cratch and just wondering if that table is the norm because if not its a cracking idea just wondering which is your boat or if you have one

    Mixer taps

thats an unusual place to go on a tap .Most mixer taps are the same apart from the fact that there is two different size of pipe to tap connections . However when you buy the taps they will normally come with two stems usually in soft copper, you are better off going to screw fix and buying two flexy pipe connections easiest with push fit ends to fit but cheaper in compression fitting if you have no shut off valves you could buy the flexis with shut off valves built in it is at the most an hours job to change. When you buy your taps try and get washered taps instead of ceramic discs easy to tell ceramic discs only do a quarter turn to switch on washered turn several times.Of course it will not be possible to buy washered if you go for a single stem operating tap .The holes in counter will be the same just the fitting on the bottom could be different but that doesnt matter

  17. excuse my ignorance but like all newbie boat self fitters im on one hell of a learning curve.Im not even sure if this is its correct name but was wondering where in west yorkshire i might get one of these either made or bought off shelf any slight help appreciated
  18. just wondering as a newbie boater you say you were sent a letter for overstaying on 72 hr visitor mooring even tho you didnt.I am trying to understand a couple of things. 1 I you were a ccer and you moved the other side of sign would you be able to stay there for another 11 days 2 When change to charity if ive got it right charitys can only accept donations and not demand them where will that leave them . This is said tongue in cheek and head little bit up butt but youve got to admit its radical thinking
  19. does anyone know if the travel power is still available to buy as i cant find anything on internet
  20. youve given me a great idea i havent started my fit out yet just insulation ballast and floor. one of the things iwas going to do was to put a slightly dropped centre to my roof to run cables for lighting and still make it accessible. So i am now thinking i might run a duct in it with openable brass vent to allow warm air into other areas the size of duct will have to be smaller so might use slim cable ducting 35mm x70mm cheers for idea though
