First boat I fitted out I used 6mm. This one I have used 9mm to reduce the panels from vibrating. It worked.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I had to look furniture polish to see what that was! i have avoided petroleum jelly (Vaseline) as it may damage the seal and have used hand cream 'cos its greasy and ok for skin so fingers crossed its ok for rubber seals. Now the seal in my other cassette has started leaking. What's with it with these things. OK 2 years constant use turn about but the seals have not lasted. Worst of all they still look good. I am tempted to whack them down with some silicone sealant, that should stop it, may be. If its knackered I can't make it any worse, and at a £10 a time.....

Just received my new Thetford Cassette lip seal to find that the fitting instructions says 'IMPORTANT: before placing the new lip seal make sure that it has been treated with Thetford seal lubricant' I do not have any Thetford lubricant! Anybody suggest an alternative please?

It was purchased new June 2010. Not put into full use until April 2012. I think it was my fault the unit failed, I reconnected the 12v supply to the unit and switched it on before removing the load. The load being, 1.25kw immersion heater that I had left on and 2kw Kettle my wife had switched on! An expensive lesson.

Further update. New inverter supplied by Victron through Springwood Haven. Cost me £675. Very, very please with the service I received from Springwood and Victron. They did not have to do this but have kept a customer.
Old unit not economic to repair.

Just an update. I contacted Springwood Haven marina and they said they would return the unit to Holland for me. I went to see them this morning and left the unit with them to be sent to Holland this afternoon. They told me one of three things will happen. Repaired for free, - repaired at cost (if economically viable, Victron do not do estimates) - provide a new unit at reduced cost.
I will keep you posted.

Help! The smoke has just fell out of my Victron 12/2000/80. I switched the unit off, disconnect the mains supply so I could replace a 13 amp socket. Turn the unit on connected the mains and smoke fell out of the Victron unit. I took the cover off and the big round coil is burnt. Anyone know who can mend these thing please?

Hi all
After reading the manual I am apparently 'allowed', nay, encouraged to clean the outside of my sprayers. Anybody know where to buy the prickers?
ps Thanks to Tim for the tool to remove the sprayers. Made the job so simple.

Tim, you are an absolute star! I have a heap of NOS Goodridge fittings so will check them out. But to be honest can't get to my stuff till Thursday and I probable haven't got the correct bolt anyway. There, just talked myself into buying one as they seem cheap to me. Much cheaper than when I was selling them.

Tim, thank you for taking the trouble to find the size for me. That size sounds that I will be most unlikely to find one in my nuts and bolts tin! Even though its full of old motorcycle bits, both British and Japanese. So its find a tool or try removing them with your hint of loosen the nuts a couple of turns and turn it over method (at my risk). I could try taping it sideways a bit and see what happens but when does a tap turn into a smack? I do not have the parts available to gain the experience.

Jim, thanks for that. I thought that most of the injector thread size was metric as it was invented/developed in Germany. I know my JP was metric. BSP - I have some small fittings left over from gas stuff. if I can not find a definitive answer I will have to try some of them to identify the thread. (bet I haven't got the right one)
Jake crew -I have tried trawling the internet but my ability to not find the correct information is legendary. But thanks, do you have a link?

As I have been unable to locate a sprayer removal tool I am going to make one. I need to identify the thread size on the sprayer and then find a nut to fit. I have previously taken the pipe off but did not pay particular attention to the size. My guess is it will be metric and maybe fine pitch. Any help will be very much appreciated.

CaRT have started this all ready. Market Harborough leisure moorings in the basin now have a restriction on then that new contracts are only for boat not using solid fuel. Market Harborough is not even a smokeless zone.

Can you not pilot drill next to the original hole and when you cut new hole remove old 3/8 hole. Sort of thing?

Found it! Very good spice and veg shop (loads of other stuff). Friendly staff who keep a well stocked, tidy and well lite stop. They must be competitive on prices as there is a Lidl opposite. We walked from Bridge 21 and it took less than 10 mins to get there. Thanks for all your help and we will visit next time we are in Nuneaton.

I've had trouble with seepage. Should have asked you first! If the olive oil does not do the trick DOT 3 for me.
