  4. Hello all i am going to be moving my boat to a club mooring on the river Stort soon. I am hoping to take my boat off the mooring and to visit locat spots where the fishing is better a few days each week. Most of these spots are frequented by constant cruisers boats and consequently attract the attention of mooring wardens, given that I have got a local home mooring and will only be staying for short periods am I allowed to revisit these spots a number of times throughout the year ?

  14. Hello all I hope to be taking my boat up the Thames from Canvey to the river lea in the next month or so, it currently has a fixed "wheelhouse" and I have just measured the air draft at 7" 6 I have checked online for bridge heights, but have found conflicting answers . Would anyone have accurate minimum heights
  15. Thanks I don't suppose anyone has a link to where I could find a diagram for how to set up a backboiler and a few rads please
  16. Simple question Does the gravity system require a pump ......
  17. I want to start off with new batteries, there is not currently a charger fitted, just the alternators, with regard the solar I'm not sure whether to go for flexible panels or the ex domestic ones from Bimble I already have a Honda EU20i generator Thank you Batteries 2 x 220ah approx £500Charger stirling 60ah approx £500 Solar panels/controller £500 I hope I won't, I only use a few lights in the evening when I'm at home, shower for a few minutes (upon occasion) I'll get some candles if it comes to that
  18. I'm not too up on arithmetic, so the calculation side of things is a bit out of my league, I'm happy to run the generator a few of times a week for an hour or so to top things up, if n when needed
  19. I am hoping to get a battery charger, was thinking of one of the stirling 60amp ones, possibly two 220ah batteries and a new starter Solar panels and a controller I suppose really it's the type of batteries/panels and charge controller I'm most undecided about, provided no one has anything negative to say about stirling chargers, or can recommend a better one for the money
  20. My new boat currently has 2x alternators and a stirling battery management system fitted I x starter 3 x leisure, so a pretty standard set up. My main usage will be a refrigerator, water pump, a few lights in the evenings that I am not at work and a TV at the weekends when my boy comes. I am going to be living aboard (CC) I will be giving the existing wiring a thorough check over/ tidy up and installing new batteries, a decent charger which I will run with my honda EU20i and solar panels, I have allowed a budget of £1500 . Any suggestions ......
  21. 45p a day to run a fridge, hmmmmmm! Might be worth fitting the solar panels then .........
  22. Thanks for the advice all the boat was blacked/anodes in 2011, so my guess is the hull will be fine, he has refitted the bathroom and removed the aldi as he found it 'iinefective' as a scource of central heating this view seems to be shared by others too. I have priced in for a new cooker/ fridge in my budget and will re negotiate the agreed price to include the price of a Morco if I decide to go ahead and buy it. I think it is quite commonplace for first time owners to make mistakes, he will have realised this by now to his cost
