we are not voting for anyone that will have power to change things, this council will only be putting forward views and the 4 boater representative will be in a very small minority so in my opinion we need people who can put forward a good argument in order to protect boaters interests. If you really think that the representatives from cycling, fishing, walking etc are going to be even in the slightest bit interested in CCers V. CMers then I think you have completly the wrong idea of the power and make up of this council. The make up of this council shows that the majority of its members will be more interested in Towpaths etc.than anything to do with what actually happens on the water.

As some might know where possible I do try and defend BW but this does look like a complete shambles to me. I know and have met lots of boaters, especially the slightly older generation like my mate Stan that I cruise with that do not have internet. How are these people ever going to know what they are supposed to do. I think the election should be postponed until BW are able to send via the post a complete and simple process. The urgency for these council members though important is not that great, we are only talking about 2 meetings a year with very little power. While all this is going on it distracts from the more important appointment of trustees where we seem to have no say.

Personally I do not care if someone is in the North, South or East. I am interested in people who care and understand the concerns of boaters even if they do not agree with them would be prepared to listen. I would hope that the person voted in might open a website where they can report on what is happening and allow people to make comments. Maybe even while out cruising will be able to advise certain spots (such as a pub) where they will be at a certain time to allow other boaters to meet up discuss what is happening. Anyway that is what I would do if I was standing.

I had that thought myself. I guess I will have to call BW for my licence number as my new licence has not caught up with me yet.
