  1. Which ever way you go you encounter the trent, although the bit between wychnor and alrewas isnt as wide as the bit at derwentmouth, it still rises quickly after a bit of rain! Whichever way you go have a grand time, I vote towards fradley and beyond up to great haywood and back. Easy in a week of short days!!!!

  2. A friend of mine works for the EA and the H+S bulls*** is laughable, for example he had to do a days training course to change a disc in a grinder !

I train people in the correct selection and use of abrasive wheels at work, its riveting stuff!

  3. You probably don't have one, but also used in things like antenna rotators, (although some types need more than 4 cores).

As has been said, this is a flex, not a cable, and should not be in used for any permanent wiring that's "embedded" in the house.

You are indeed correct as to the use of this. I should have written my original post better, I meant that 4 core cable could be used for multi switching circuits, not that this particular cable could be.

    Sorry for any confusion

  4. Thanks for that Alan, she's a lovely boat, my family raised her in about 1993 when she was sunk at Trent Lock with a section 8, she wasn't in bad nick, a couple of soft bits but was mainly due to water ingress. She had been motorised but both the engine and 'ellum were missing. I remember she had solid oak floors throughout and a brand new morso squirrel still in it's packing case!!

Last I heard she was down towards Hemel.

  5. We bought one a few weeks ago for home, excellent sofa, we went for a custom sized corner sofa bed. The mattress isn't great on the bed, but the sofa is very comfortable and relatively easy to put together, if not a little daunting but once you suss it out it's fine! Pound for pound they blow other Competitors away, they have a showroom in Uxbridge which you can visit and is worth doing, the staff there are very helpful and can assist with the ordering. Ours took about 3 weeks to arrive but worth the wait! They do, what appears to be a great spare parts service for ANY part which breaks, including the frame work and spare covers.

  6. Make a fender out of bubble wrap and gaffer tape to put along the side of the boat and stick it to the side with more gaffer. This only works in temperatures under 0 degrees. Be careful not to rip the paint off though, gaffer sticks tight! ;) I learnt this from my friend, Peter Ian staker :)

  7. There are some interesting boats on there, and i have my eyes on a couple, but i fear, as ever i may be priced out of the market!! Also, By the time VAT, craneage costs, and auctioneer's fees are taken into account, i think i might just be able to scrape about 25p and half a polo together!! Still, if they're willing to give me a boat of my choice, i would gladly oblige. ............. then again, i fear the chances of this are on the low side of zero!!!

  9. Apparantly it is now sold but the exact price I do not know. Cheerio 'John The Lock' it would seem he is off to Thailand!

not sure, i quite fancied it though i've had my eye on it for a few years, but it seems it slipped under my radar! Having said that, it was slightly out of my price range, and needed work. Maybe next time!

  10. FOR INFORMATION.

The swing bridge over Fenny Stratford lock, (Grand Union) is no longer locked/unlocked with a BW "Watermate" (Sanitary Station) key.

That part of the mechanism is now removed - not clear if this is BW or vandals, (if there's a difference in this case!).

The unsuitable and very heavy and awkward lifting bar added at the same time still remains, unfortunately, but at least you don't end up with your BW key locked in the bridge when you want to go, and someone else needs to use the lock.

    :smiley_offtopic:

Another clever feature at this lock is a series of rubbish bins which, because of their colour coding, look like someone has had the initiative to introduce recycling - until you find all are labelled "General Waste". :banghead:

Going off topic slightly, I notice the lock cottage there was for sale for the bargain price of 249,995 recently!

    Regards

    Dan
