  1. I havent been up there for a few years but Hanley park always used to be a bit of a no go, but for the rest I can recommend the following, if still accessible that is:

Hazlehurst top, just on the leek arm

    Holly bush @ denford

Deep Hayes country park, just past denford on the off side

    Cheddleton Flint mill

Consall forge, black lion, say no more

Ruelow wood, about 1 mile shy of froghall tunnel on the offside

Leek pool on the lerk arm next to the tunnel.

Most are within walking distance of a pub, but some are in the middle of no where and nice and quiet. Great cut, full of happy memories!

  2. With a bit of luck CCTV will nab her, Bastard.

Unfortunately I am not aware of any CCTV in that area as we used to have an allotment next to the bridge in question, and no one ever seemed to get caught when the allotments were broken into....

On a side note, I can't help but think the OP should have refrained from putting an exclamation mark at the end of the thread title, it imnplies a comedic element, which I, and others can most certainly not see. Animal charities in this area are over run by stray and unwanted pets, but still do a fantastic job taking all in. I sincerely hope they do catch the person responsible, prosecute, then, once proven, name and shame on a national level to show this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. My wife and I have taken in 6 rescue kittens over the past 5 years, from various organisations, and whilst we know it's not for everyone, have had great enjoyment from them over the years. They have cost us alot of money however, one had a tumour at the age of three, one got run over, and two had an acute reaction to the drugs whilst at the vets and suffered from kidney failure and ended up in the royal vet college for a week. We didnt think twice about any vet bills, their wellbeing was the primary importance, and to see someone tip helpless animals into thee canal for whatever reason makes me sick.

  3. there was an article in a recent HNBOC news letter on this. Basically the horse got up a massive gallop and torpedoed it out into the trent and then it was poled across once it slowed. the horse went over on a ferry boat. i'll try and dig the article out if i can find it!!!

  4. if you do it in one hit, you can travel from LM to Trent Lock in anything from 5 1/2 hours upwards, levels and locks dependant. we used to reckon 7 hours with a pair. we never really used to stop en route, but drawing 3' 3" we we travelling at such a speed as to 'enjoy' our surroundings!
