Dan,
please don't apologise for having a sense of humour, this forum needs as much of it that can be mustered!
not a problem, although, being a fan of wooden boats, i don't like the way the remains are cow-ering under the water...........
-
Whilst cruising back towards Audlem yesterday, we spotted this group of cheeky cows taking a dip in the cut.
If you look closely, you may notice what's left of an old wooden working boat that was alegedly sunk after the canal trade declined. Sacrilege!
I don't think it can be moooooo-ved though........
Sorry!

The tug is definately Judith Ann, you can just make out the start of the very long swim, and detail of the unique triangular engine room slides. I suspect the gunnels look narrower due to shadows on the day.
Alan, do you mind if we save a copy of the image for personal use only, as we chart her history?

I suspect that one needs a bit more than restoration to get it back from the great wooden boatyard in the sky.
-
there's plenty of wooden narrowboats about, if you look in the right places, however, the time and costs involved mean that you would never re-coup all the money spent on a major restoration. Try these people:
there were also a couple mentioned in threads on here not so long ago, IIRC, 'Jester' and 'Langho'
(but, once done, they look lovely!!)
Hope this helps

ETA:

Castle Marina, or the towpath nearby, is the obvious choice, as this location enables you to walk into work,

I had always thought that the city campus was out towards Hucknall, which i would say was unwalkable from any section of the canal. If it is this site, then the tram passes within a mile or so, but you can use the medilink service,

And thank you for keeping us all in the loop with regular updates Laurence.

Although youthful, we're very similar to the older generation in that we, too, would walk across hot coals to get to a beer tent!

I suspect it will be some thousands, which is why it is still there. It's probably worth some hundreds, or, probably, unfortunately, just one!

And how much did he want for this fine specimen!!!!

We are about to install a PRITY stove in our tug, might be worth a google, they do quite a few relatively cheaply.

My ideal pair (of boats) would be a Large Woolwich motor and a Small Woolwich butty, their relative proportions seeming better to my eye.
I agree, when my Parents ran Banstead and Meteor, they looked good together and complemented each other well.

I've just bought the rgb 12v driver. I'll report back once I've put it to use. The info. On all of them is a little sparse to say the least, but I suspect they might be a tad power hungry.

If any one goes, can they take some pictures?? It would be great to see!
