  1. actually it doesnt bore me, i think its a shame that people get gragged into slanging matches. Your head is so obviously so far up your own ass that you fail to see that I have (sadly unsuccessfully, it seems) tried to inject a tad of humour. I shall keep my gob shut from now on. edited to appologise to the mods if this is deemed inappropriate.
  2. will someone wake me when this thread has finished?
  3. Thanks for that info. We are having a hull survey on monday so we can see what condition the hull is in, and I'll ask about an isolating tranformer. Are they easy to fit/install? ps sorry for hijacking this thread

  5. This thread has concerened me, and we dont even have our boat yet. We have arranged a permanent mooring in a marina. We both work full time, so will be leaving for work around 7.30 and not getting back till around 6.30. It is unlikley that we will be sailing anywhere other than the weekends and holidays for the foreseeable future. I don't want to be hooked up to the electric point, as we don't want to rot our hull. We will want to run our engine for our batteries. Now, will we be frowned upon for being weekend sailors, I would love nothing more than to just take off, but for us, for the time being, that isn't really an option. And will we be frowned upon for running our engine? You views are important to me, as we don't want to upset or offend anyone, but it seems that some people are going to be intolerant of us. edited to add, I voted the second option.
  6. No, all show type, but think theyre wockers. Clipped down to the wood, and Cleo is quite athletic, she is the one who is most wocker like. Awful neighbours here spurred us on too. Been thinking about living on a boat for a while, but had enough of thinking.
  7. ...even so, I couldnt live in it. I would sooner find a happy medium. She was a full time mum though, wasnt she? Not working full time. I might be wrong, but I'm sure thats what they said.
  8. I have found this to be a really interesting thread. We are buying to live aboard, and in the end, decided that we would go for a wide beam.It was a compromise of being able to go anywhere for 2 x 2 weeks of the year or feeling cramped for the remaining 48. With 5 dogs, I couldnt imagine living in a traditional 6 10 narrowboat. We are looking at a 12 and a half wide 50 ft long. We will make do and be happy with where we can go, and be comfy at the same time. Perhaps when we are older, have given up work, have more time for cruising and less dogs, then we may go for a smaller boat. Its interesting to read and understand peoples reasons for what they choose.
  9. you're all trying to confuze me, arentya! I'm off to check out that animated website again.
  10. never tried it on a boat, but I definately agree about the doggydoo!! (I have 5, so i know where you are coming from!) I doooo clear up after mine though!
  11. dunno if this will work, but here goes. These are my gawjussss doggies. We're in for a challenge, living aboard! they are real water babies. me, hubby and boat to follow. there are 5 in there.
