I put a piece of card board angled down from the back/top of the morso angled toward the front, when you sweep the chimney, all the crud falls into the fire not behind the boiler.

Thanks for your help folks, will keep me busy for the weekend!

I've started to strip down my Morso Squirrel as its in need of a repaint and at some point the inside of the stove has gathered water so its quite rusty so hoping to clean that up.
I've removed the top of the stove, and in doing so, 3 of the bolts have sheered off, got one of those out with mole grips but the other two are almost flush with the hole.
Any suggestions to remove ? The bolts are really stuck !

Bro.
Sounds to me like your Isuzu engine alternators have been connected to the wrong battery banks!
This may be an issue, as the pulley dimensions on each alternator are different, you may find the 70A one is spinning more slowly than the 90A one.
I've got the same engine, although at that time, they fitted dual 70A alts.
If you look down at the engine from the top (plan view), with the alt. belts at the top of the picture, the domestic alternator is normally on the left, battery alt on the right ?

Ah, at last a rival to my site! www.waterexplorer.co.uk

Think it also depends if you are following CE marking of your fit out - if you are then a lot more of the BS/EU standards come into force.

I've been using the vetus gland for 8 years now, never dripped once, and I've not replaced any seals.

Interesting twist on the legal perspective of "hiring" if you go through ETRR.
Looks like the "renter" buys a share of your boat so you become joint owners - the renter is then not renting it from you, they own it (minor share), and then give the share back to you at the end of the "rental" period.
Wonder what the insurance company and BW licence make of that then!

Hi all, I know this boat well, the OP has had the bottom of the boat replaced, not over-plated.
Effecitvely everything below the gunnel in the picture in the advert is new, only the cabin sites and roof are original - and even they were changed and parts replaced - the front hatch door for instance.
The cruiser stern was rebuilt from scratch, new engine bearers and swim plates etc.
I agree the original wording may need improving as it could be ambiguious/unclear, just trying to help clarify !
The original boat was built by "ARCRITE" - Length 10.98 metres (36 feet ) - Beam 2.08 metres (6 feet 10 inches )
Metal hull, power of 15BHP. Registered with British Waterways number 69628.
Although no date is recorded or known, probably late 1980's...

Hi, Back in 2008 I wrote a how to guide for this forum - its easy to add the wire on to a standard A127 alternator...

Maybe even 1100ah of decent batteries if there's a secondary charge supply; that's a lot of solar and although i don't know about Sanyo panels the controller is verrry decent.
Sanyo are generally considered the Rolls Royce in solar panels.

No reason why you can't get a small lockable safe fitted onto a boat to put any valuables into, just to be on the "safe" side :-)

With the launch of Canal & River Trust, I've noticed that the internet domain names:
canalandrivertrust.co.uk
canalandrivertrust.org.uk
Have been purchased by British Waterways, but
www.canalandrivertrust.org
Has been purchased by Thomas Crossley (editor@narrowboatworld.com)
Someone looking to profit from the new trust name change ???

I have just asked the same question
Alex
The Google Earth links have been retired, they were used by only a handful of people compared to the online maps, and I don't have enough spare time to keep everything in sync and support multiple applications accessing the map data.
Sorry about this!

I'm also struggling greatly with the current Navvygator version, which I can seldom get to start cleanly at the first attempt any more, and which seems to hang when I try and stop a journey, and it wants to upload data to the server. (Comes up as "not responding" in task manager).
Sounds like a bluetooth problem to me, does it do this when you play back a recording?
-
Stuart, one other thing. When you click on a boat to show its location the box that gives the details is much bigger than before with a lot of blank space plus no 'X' button to shut and it stays on the screen for quite a time!
I'll put it on the "to-do" list !
-
Hi all, I've fixed the issues with Navvygator not downloading and few other minor issues people have reported to me.
Correct me if I am wrong but in the old version when I clicked on a particular boat location it showed the current location and time. If I then clicked on this boat again later then it showed the later location (assuming it had moved).
In the new version it continues to show the original location unless a refresh of the complete screen is made. This is with IE8 (I will check with Firefox later).
Hi Geoff, yes the old version did update every 5 minutes, the new one doesn't - I didn't think many people used that!
I can re-implement if you consider it useful.

Hi Stuart, I like the updated site.
Would it be possible to make a navvygator app for android?
I'm an android user as well (both tablet and phone) so its a strong possibilty - but I've never done any Android dev work so it may be a while!
What do the circles with numbers in mean when you are at a certain zoom level?
When you zoom out, if all the places were shown the map would be really cluttered and unreadable (theres about 25,000 places in the map!), the numbers are "clusters" and indicate how many places are hiding under the cluster, which get shown as you zoom back down/in.
I tried to download navvygator but the link is not working.
Whoops, forgot to upload it again after the upgrade!
Try again later and it should work.
not obvious from the home page where the realtime boat locations are shown.
Going to the maps, the need to select "boat locations" and then further to have to select "Map" to show anything useful, because the default is to "water" only, means a lot more clicks than before.
See what I can do.

Hi, I know a lot of you are regular users of my website and map's.
I've just launched a redesigned and hopefully easier to use site.
Take a look at:
http://www.waterexplorer.co.uk
and the full canal maps are here

Grateful for your comments!
Thanks.
Stuart.

Forgot to mention, that after you have swept the chimney, you can put a vacumn hose down the flue pipe and suck out the crud on top of the boiler tank without twisting your arms!
