  1. As far as I am concerned if you regard two pints at lunchtime as 'measly' then you must be a hardened drinker. I certainly wouldn't consider doing anything other than sleeping after drinking that much during the day. How does drinking enhance the boating experience? I'm not supporting this legislation as it is unenforceable but having been rammed by a drunken boater in the past I would like to see less drinking on the cut.
  2. It is surprising to me that so many people need to take a mind altering drug whilst boating on the cut. For me the views, the leisurely pace, the wildlife and the general bonhomie are enough. Why on earth would a person want to experience this through an alcoholic haze? I would suggest that if you need to take alcohol to enhance the experience then you have a problem.
  3. I replaced the worn prop on my Honda outboard with a high thrust one which worked OK except: It gathered much more weed. It caused a great clunking when putting the motor in gear due I siuppose to the extra thrust at tickover. I ended up getting a standard prop.
  4. Exactly how is this true? What does a residential 60ft boat owner pay that a rented householder on CT band A doesn't apart from a licence fee which goes to BW not goverment funds? All us boat owners pay that anyway. Which Depts are they paying and how?
  5. Like education, footpath maintenance, street lighting, police, fire service, social services, refuse collection, etc, etc.
  6. From Wkipedia Troll: In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding My post was neither derogatory or inflammatory. The topic is not particularly sensitive. I am serious about this matter and would like to hear some good reasons for the state of affairs.
  7. No I believe that everyone should pay his/her share of the costs. I'm happy to try to persuade local government that this should be the case.
  8. A hobby horse. Why don't ALL residential ,moorings attract Council Tax? Surely to escape from paying it is parasitic. Why isn't there a 'virtual' LA that could collect a Council tax equvalent from continuous cruisers?
