  1. Chuckling at this because we currently have a composting loo onboard ??. Got a simploo as theres no bathroom fitted yet and im a bit of a hippy. Is the purple exterior and white bulkheads an unwritten boat fitting law ????.. Like everyone seens to make their houses grey and silver now ??
  2. People do like that industrial look. Its very now.
  3. Thankyou. Ok. Im going to run with leaving as is and letting inspector look and see. He made a real fuss about the fact there was gas pipes and no gas when I rung him, and originally told me the boat will need a gas safe cert to pass. With how covids whacked my budget I could do without getting a gas safe cert for a gas free boat. But I dont want to remove the pipingas the previous owner had had it instaled ready for using gas. ?‍♀️. Gorrila tape should guard on as spidees afterinspection do you think?
  4. Thankyou. So in terms of BSS. im not using gas, theres no gas appliances on the boat, the two fitter points on the gas pipes the previous owner installed have been capped, will it go through like this or do I need to do something else? On the hole, good spot, not sure will need another look. It does look a bit like a hole with foam filler in it, or it could be spider eggs ( lots of yellow clumps in the gas locker). Will I have to get it welded if its a hole?
  5. Is this gas fitting in the gas locker already capped or is this what they look like? Have boat saftey coming up amd not yet using gas as I dont live aboard yet ( hence im clueless as to what a open connection would look like). Grateful to all who can help with my conundrum, ibviously all banter accepted as I shpuld probably know this... ??
  6. So drinking wine makes the BSS process easier...?
  7. Thankyou thats incredubly helpful. Will ring them. Never thought to ring them ?‍♀️
  8. At some point I di want to reinstate the gas, just not while im not living on it.
  9. I dont think the boat has a regulator attached in the gas locker, but will look again.
  10. I will try. Dosnt seen to be many in mk area though.
  11. This is good to hear actually. I thought I would be spending a fortune before I started. Will have a look. The pipes are connected to nothing, if I dont need the cert could we just diy cap them. Given theres no gas at all to leak or explode or cause apocalypse? Yes, he said my first step is to get a gas safe engineer to do a gas saftey certificate.
  12. I was wondering if I should try another examiner. Anyone know anyone near milton keynes ??
  13. The bss guy said I would have to get the pipes capped so they were inoperable and remove the empty gas bottle from the locker. He said the boat would need a gas safe cert aswell? Seemed excessive, I dont live aboard, dont have gasappliences on board, and dont use gas. ?‍♀️
  14. I was hoping someone may be able to recomend an lpg engineer in or near milton keynes. I have my BSS coming up and we f ont use the gas. I need to get the gas pipes capped for the saftey in pectipn to prove this. Al o, does anyone have a ny lue what getting pipes capped may cost?
  15. Just to reiterate, I may not know alot about connecting a water tank, but I am very aware on gas saftey, and the need for profesionals to fit such items. I may not have put this question across very well, the main thrust was to obtain a friendly chat about what may be required. My partner is tradesman, mainly tiling now. But in the past serving an apprenticeship with a house renovator hes picked up good basic plumbing skills, but has obviously never done this on a boat. So to put worries at rest, I was never goung to attempt blowing the boat up, I like it too much for that.
  16. This is the question I was to embarrased to ask my daughter last weej when she visited. Shes doing a math and physics degree at leeds.. She so would have rolled her eyesat me ?????‍♀️. Thankyou. ??
  17. Its a 70ft. Can never remember the builder off hand.. Begins with H. I literally have no clue in tank sizes. Not sure what it would hold.
  18. @BEngo that is incredibly helpful thankyou.
  19. Yes Im terrified of it failing the BSS. Thats coming up. Not quite there with instaling that yet, more just looking to get the tank connected. Trying to make sense of the plumbing ?‍♀️
  20. Yes. Its sitting in the engine room wrapoed in a dust sheet, it was ibtended for instalation in the atea that will be the kitchen. I have a photo of its waiting conection point here. Yes I will indeed need to install pumps, are they simple or complicated?
  21. Yeah, all open plan, no bathroom in yet. Like I say all pipes fitted. Just the jigsaw of connecting it all up.
  22. Posted about this before, but now I have some pics. So the boat I took on needs its water tank conecting, including placement of a filler point. The previous owner obtained a plastic tank, placed it, and has placed plumbing pipes along the boat intended to fit a shower, and conect to kitchen sink. Theres a gas boiler (not fitted) in the engine room ready to be installed, and gas pipes fitted. (obviously I would get a gas man). So really what im asking, for those with experience. Looking at my pics, how mych if an utter arse is alk this going to be, and does any one who may have embarked on such things before have any clue what this would cost? Going to be a slow project now covid lockdown work stopages killed our budget. https://photos.app.goo.gl/eYmbLeRsmE6q6sni7
  23. This is all really helpful thank you. Will look into all suggestions here. I'm hoping this boat might keep trotting along for a bit, as covid has destroyed my partners work, and we have had to run through our boat budget. If it is a gasket, how difficult would it be to attempt fitting a new one myself, or at this point should I try and take the hit, and get a mechanic in? Currently I'm going to try to clean the oil from the outside of the engine to try and make it easier to see potential issues. It has always been that oily, but the entire engine room is fairly manky, and needs a good clean.
