Make sure the lorry driver doesn't leave it unattended at a motorway services! So, we are looking for a red articulated lorry, no it's a brown one, no - hold on a minute it's a yellow one etc etc !!!

Great news about Holly, bet Middlewich are pleased. Mind you, after the boat is put back as she was, the first few hirers aren't going to have a very quiet relaxing canal holiday are they. They will be spotted, recognised and reported on their every movement!!!!! What will the film of this story be called then? "Middlewich and the Amazing Multicoloured Green Boat" a film where "Showboat" meets "Paint Your Wagon"!!!!!

Quick! Let's start speculating on the colour!!!!!!!

No one has asked yet, what colour the bike was and whether anyone has a theory that it too may have been repainted!

It also seems to be a special paint that renders the painted surface invisible in daylight!!!!!!!

I was thinking the same. There is an assumption that a boat will be returned to it's base at the proper time for the next hirer, but even 1 day late wreck's someone elses plans for a holiday.

I'm still trying to think of other essentials that he would need. Would the boat have gas bottles for cooking/heating? He would have to use a canalside boatyard for that surely?

He must be quite confident that he won't get caught. Otherwise he is in 'denial' or 'insane' (in which case we should be looking on rivers in Egypt or France!!!!)

As this is a "stolen boat" and "missing person" case, I am guessing that he would have to have been reported as missing by his family. I am surprised that we have heard no statement or comment from them about where he might be headed ie places he liked, or places he had lived in at some time. This might give a good clue. Very few people in a situation like this would want to be somewhere totally unfamiliar to them.

If the intention was to steal the boat from the outset, then the quick blue paint job might just be to avoid instant recognition as the "missing green boat", which it succeeded in doing. I would think that there is a possibility that he had an intended storage/hiding destination in mind early on and now the boat is sheeted over in a place that he may have already planned to take it. I own an old bus and if I had to move it from it's secure undercover storage to a new location, then I would certainly plan something first. It would be too risky to keep moving around looking as if you were searching for somewhere. I would doubt that the boat is moving about now as he must realise that it is being looked for, even if he thinks that only a few people are looking!

Is anyone able to show a map of the network with places where Holly has been spotted and the Middlewich hire base etc similar to the "our routes" one on the Middlewich website? Might give a clearer picture of possible places to look.

Will the film be called: LOCK, SHOCK, and TWO MONTHS OF EMAILS?!!!!

Will there be a press release with the Blue Holly photo to one of the big national papers like The Sun? Surely that would get a wider coverage to perhaps solve the mystery. Much as we are all enjoying the goings on and speculation, Middlewich need their boat back and the man concerned may need help himself.
