  1. Yeah roger that, i understood what he meant. Checked on that video and no he doesn't specifically state TDC so it could be at either end of it's stroke which and it must have been the exhaust stroke so yup that explains why he then turn it a further 360, thank you! Anywho the next video they adjust them with the engine running! Looked safe enough but I'm not sure how accurate it'd be? It seems my objective of getting a perfectly clean running Lister SR3 is somewhat futile anyway, having looked around on here it seems they're supposed to smoke a bit, especially when cold.
  2. Thats correct, the inlet was always under load (exhaust closed) when i attempted to do it that way, maybe i misheard him, right yup that makes sense 2 to 1 at the crank and it seems to be straight 1 to 1 at the pulley? Many thanks again I'd began to doubt my own sanity!
  3. Hello folks, this should be a simple one but the firing order and gearing plus advice ive been given has got me confused. I was looking for the correct positioning of the cams to check the clearance so i nipped on to utube and the advice was take no1 top dead centre mark it and turn the engine over 360 and check em at that point. My problem is A Why am i not checking em at TDC with both valves closed, why this 360 degrees? B I'm assuming this is at the crank, I've only got the pulley to go from and thats geared so 120 degrees at the pulley? Gone back to the manual and it then says exactly what i originally thought, set the clearance on each piston at TDC. I've now done this but if anyone would be kind enough to explain the method the utube videos described I'd be grateful! Many thanks
  4. Many thanks people, I've found a couple of chaps who have pointed me in the right direction..incredibly rudimentary but I'm assuming necessary otherwise they wouldn't have put them in, in the first place.
  5. Having recently started to get problems with my SR3, Stalling when hot, smoking i opted to pull it out and have a proper look about and completely restore her. The first problem was indeed injector related, it had the wrong injector fitted and the nozzle was missing! I've completely completely stripped it, new pistons. Rebore, skimmed/polished the crank and many many other little bits. While popping it all back together I've noticed it has a few components missing! Between each cylinder block i noticed evidence of wear from a piece i hadn't removed! I looked into it and it looks like they had heat reflection baffles to prevent hot spots...i think! Could anyone confirm this? Could they also let me know anywhere i could get hold of some or a decent photo of a set so that i could manufacture some. Thanks in advance
