  1. Knowing what I know now I totally agree with you and we were only there for 4 months ,but on a lot of occasions during that time the wind was so bad we couldn’t move the boat ( safely ) and there wasn’t any coal , gas or diesel ( during that time ) oh and pump out wasn’t working for 2 of those months either . Calcutt much nicer . thank you again for taking the time to respond .
  2. Thank you . It’s a shame as it’s a pretty little marina but as per previous comment the pontoons are in very bad state of repair and are lethal in certain weathers . I hope you found a suitable mooring .
  3. Thank you for you reply . I haven’t actually been casting for information, I was contacted by others boaters on the forum this week and thanks to them I have just had a email and am now better informed .
  4. Thank you . I have had a LBA ( letter before action ) drawn up by a Solicitor friend - as yet no response to that , however , strangely , it was signed for by someone at the marina !?! . It definitely wasn’t the man himself that I spoke to as he gave me his name and you could just tell he was ‘ very put out ‘ at having to take yet another call for someone phoning that Company looking for Mr Hallam . I will take it further but not if it costs us too much money . I’m going to contact Companies House as they are on ‘ active proposal to strike off ‘ I can let them know ? I’m not confident, just very shocked that there is no response at all . Thank you very much for taking the time to try to assist .
  5. Yes Indeed . I contacted this Company a few months back and spoke to a Director and they want to know where he is too !! Asked me to let them know if he responds to me . In their words “ he’s gone AWOL “ . I will forward all my emails to the quarry though as haven’t tried that . Although 5 months of emails might clog their internet so I’ll just send the one ?Thank you very much ?
  6. Thank you . Hindsight is wonderful isn’t it ? . There is no office at Brinklow Marina so no means of paying by card . You pay by bank transfer . Usually I would Agree that when you pay , monies gone . I have worked in a Marina , we left our last Marina and was refunded . We had to sell out boat at short notice due to severe family illness - unforeseen - unexpected . T&C”s state refunds are given !! Paid for 12 months ( as no crystal ball to see what was going to happen ) was there for 4 months - unable to contact anyone since or before we left . We are not wealthy people , we’ve had some cruel cards dealt us and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a response and a refund . Thank you for taking the time to respond . I originally came on here to warn other boaters and try and find out if anyone else has has issues there , which they have . I think as it’s now 5 months down the line doubt I’ll hear . £2,340 is a lot of money for 4 months mooring and are not in a position to just wave goodbye to part of it .
  7. Thank you. You are probably right , especially with what is on Companies House Website saying proceeding to dissolve . After hearing that there was a new harbour master there and one of the mobile phones had altered I thought I might at least be able to contact someone . I have looked at the file I had to start and there has been weekly emails , letters ( signed for ) , voicemails and texts 2-3 times a week since August ( end of ) with no response but if you delivered a boat there , someone must have arranged the mooring ? Do they screen calls ? I wonder ? maybe I’ll try from another mobile ! Perhaps it is time to stop trying to get refunded some of our money . We were only there not even 4 months when our circumstances changed though so it’s quite a bit . Oh well hope the owner can sleep at night . We can ill afford to lose the money but looks like we have . Thank you for taking the time to respond .
  8. Strange . Maybe something to do with me leaving a message today ? Maybe just a coincidence. Thank you for letting me know .
  9. Thank you . It is strange as when I made my weekly calls today , one of the phones is now a vodaphone and not EE as previously . Surprise !! Still no response . I have a friend who is on FB I’ll get her to look into it for me . Myself and my other half are so fed up and worn out now that I think we’ll go there as we still have gate key as legally we still have a mooring as no one has responded to our giving notice . Shame on them I say . Thank you once again for thinking of me upon the new information coming to light . Companies House are showing in RED that Brinklow Marina is in the process of being dissolved so I’ll go through them . Nothing short of theft really especially now I’ve seen the T & C’s which are not given at time of payment, you have to find them yourself . Not always easy for boaters to get on the web . Thank you again .
  10. Thank you so much for this information. Unfortunately I am not on Facebook . If there are any contact details on there for this chap ( although I do have 3 telephone numbers which I leave messages on once a week ) I would appreciate it if you could let me know . I still haven’t had a response from emails , letters which have been signed for , telephone calls and texts . I have looked at T & C’s and although we didn’t receive a copy of this they are on website to download and they do issue refunds but you need to give 16 weeks notice ? Which is rather a lot as sometimes things happen in life that you can’t foresee 4 months in advance but even so I have been trying to give notice since end of August , beginning of September last year and we paid at end of April so we are legally entitled to a refund but no response in any shape or form has been forthcoming . Thank you for responding to this information and I may just have to go there in person although whether the Harbour Master can deal with financial concerns to the Marina is in doubt in my opinion . I won’t give up though .
  11. Thank you . The owner wasn’t there ,only a chap who was helping out as harbour master had left with no notice due to a falling out . We could not have known any of this prior to payment as seems the set up changed . We paid to secure mooring with promise of receipt and T&C’s to follow but they didn’t materialise and still haven’t . We have been boating for 10 years , haven’t encountered this way of doing things before .
  12. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment . I abhor injustice but I abhor sheer rudeness even more and to me that is what ignoring phone calls , emails , letters and texts is . I am at a loss how anyone at the marina past or present can get any issues resolved if there is no point of contact . Thank you again . Thank you . I have actually worked at a Marina where refunds were given and we were refunded from Dunchurch Pools after 18 months after signing and paying for 3 years . It is not receiving any contract that causes doubt as to whether it is their policy ? How does one know what the conditions of moorings / moorers etc are if no contract is given at time of securing mooring ? thank you for taking the time to comment .
  13. Maybe we just touched lucky at the 2 previous marinas we were in as they provided contracts , receipts etc and any queries .
  14. Thank you but I like to look for the best in people , often disappointed though but I won’t turn into a cynic just yet as more important things to deal with . Thank you for taking the time to respond .
  15. Unfortunately I am one of those people who expect businesses to be run with some modicum of honesty and professionalism. It did cross my mind that the owner had other things going on in his life , we did in quite unforeseen circumstances overnight , but have since found out from other replies that this is not unusual for the owner of this marina to not respond to correspondence, phone calls or replenish stock at marina etc . This was from a moorer that left recently too . Any response would be appreciated which is why I asked on here if anyone knew anything . Thank you for taking the trouble to respond . Thank you . I am getting that impression from quite a few people . Such a shame as there must be moorers desperate for moorings there yet cannot make contact . thank you again .
  16. Thank you so much . It was definitely the sort code and the a/c number for Brinklow Marina Ltd . My bank confirmed this . Also , this information was given to me by the person who kind of took over after the harbour master left . He wasn’t taking over any admin or calls he was just helping out with the outstanding issues from the previous harbour master if that makes sense . I will persevere as I don’t like injustice and I certainly can’t understand why I haven’t had receipt in the first instance or contract and no response to my calls etc . It just doesn’t make sense . I’ve worked in a marina and moored in 2 previously and have always had a point of contact and relevant paperwork given . You are right in saying that I will eventually have to stop as we have enough going on family wise but to pay a year and only be there not even 5 months and had no one to give notice to or explain why is quite disappointing and frustrating . Your good wishes are much appreciated.
  17. Thank you Jess . I have contacted other numbers and businesses and have been given additional contact information but again , no response . Apparently I am not the only person trying to make contact with the owner .
  18. Thank you . We wanted to moor there as it is a quiet small marina and to secure a mooring we expected to pay , which we were happy to do ( we were not aware at that time that no receipt or contract would be forthcoming ) we paid by bank transfer but as mentioned the receipt and contract didn’t materialise . I have proof of payment and what the payment was for and to whom but with hindsight had I been informed that there wasn’t any person to communicate with and no paperwork we wouldn’t have chosen to moor there . Had it not been for our unfortunate , unforeseen drastic change in circumstances we could have remained on our mooring but that was not to be . Thank you for taking the time to respond .
  19. Thank you . Yes , Eric took over from the harbour master who was there at time of our securing mooring in August , he is very helpful but he isn’t involved in answering phones etc which he did inform us of . We were told by our neighbour at Marina at time of leaving that there wasn’t a harbour master so to speak . It’s a mystery for sure as how do boaters secure moorings if there is no reply to the 3 phone numbers or emails . I am still phoning , leaving messages and sending emails every other day and still no response at all . Having no supplies will surely cause problems to some moorers in the winter if they are iced in or wind won’t allow them to cruise to pick up coal & gas or diesel . The pump out was broken at time of our leaving also . It’s supposed to have a token that you collect from the harbour master !?! I’ll let you know if I ever get a response but I doubt it very much .
  20. Thank you . That is one of the numbers I have been calling since end of August. Our pontoon was also broken and was given same reason ( that a new boater pulled ropes too tight ) that was when there was a harbour master in September. Thank you for taking the time to reply .
  21. Thank you . We’ve had to sell our boat now unfortunately but it is making us wary should we be able to purchase another in the future . No I’m not aware of any others that are being unmanaged and no communication or response ?
  22. Oh it’s all singing all dancing at Dunchurch . Non slip pontoons - some extra wide - hook up electric , water points - some berths have a water point for each boat !! The pipes are heated too would you believe ? to stop pipes and water freezing over winter . Joe the owner is so passionate about this marina . Lovely staff . Quite rural - no buses so you’d need a car .
  23. That would be interesting . Please try to explain to the owner what is happening to me and for him to ask for receipt and contract before payment . Life can change and we can’t always stay in one place or indeed keep our boats , our circumstances changed overnight , unforeseen so I’d like all new moorers there to bear this in mind . Thank you and I’ll be interested to learn of the policy the owner you are dealing with is made aware off . PS please check pontoon as some are collapsing - you may even find it’s our mooring . How ironic would that be !!
  24. Thank you very much . The marina is probably only half full and as no one if there for enquiries and or to answer phones it’s looking like moorers are not required as there isn’t a way of obtaining one . The pontoons are in a poor state of disrepair-treacherous in some places so maybe it’s being run down . I’ll contact Companies House and keep my fingers crossed . I’m worn out with it all as I’ve been trying all contact since end of August . If I’ve managed to stop other people parting with their funds something good will have come out of it .
  25. Thank you . No we didn’t have to pay a entry fee . We just rang the number on the gate the harbour master gave us a yearly price and bank details on a scrap of paper with a promise of receipt and contract which never materialised . No harbour master since . I am aware of the owners name and recorded delivery mail has been signed for at the marina but not by Mr Hallam ? Quite a mystery .
