Tony thanks for your response pmsl I actually haven’t got a clue about marine engines! As it’s water cooled I thought it sucks water from the river cools the engine then spits it back, my thinking is that coolant would pollute the river or thinking about its probably stored separately ??‍♂️?

Excellent! Sorry about the description Tony, and yes I have just lossened the lock bolts which has as you said loosened the tension, just adjusted tension once belt was back on. All sorted! You will make a pro of me yet ????? thank you #legend ??

New problem! Started engine tonight heard a clang and stopped engine, looked and cam belt and whelk has come off. Obviously whoever put it on didn’t tighten bolt. How do I get back on without stretching belt?

All fixed checked what most people advices no water coming out back so I screwed water tap in instead of out! And all working again ha ha ha ha ha sorry to waste your time guys and thank you for your support

Ok guys many thanks I will check mud box and weed impeller. I will also get you a photo Tony. Stock tap is on fully but I noticed a little little leak dripping from mud box. I will take all of your advice and check. Many thanks Ok will check tomorrow ?? Thank you all again

Thanks guys Bees description is bang on, it start to blow water out ? and smoke comes out back! I can get some more photos tomorrow but I think it’s a job for a mechanic! I was hoping to head off on my voyage next weekend! Doesn’t look like it ☹️ Thanks guys

Hi guys I’m no mechanic and a rookie took my old narrowboat out for a cruise today and after 15/20 mins the engine cap on the coolant part and white smoke started to get thicker. CAN ANYBODY HELP! It’s a raw water cooled, starts lovely runs lovely in idle and symptoms are happening whilst cruising. I bout it as a project boat and have totally started from scratch but work now is to get her running ready to move her to Ashby Canal from the River Soar. Apparently it had a service November last year before a purchased her and has had a new mud filter! Water pump and alternator. Hope that helps! Sorry for long description ???

I’ve got same problem with a 1.8 bmc white smoke and top of coolant tank pissing out water on the overflow pipe on cap !!!! I’m a rookie and looking for a bit of advice. HELP!
