Thanks very much for the replies. We are drawing blanks on all fronts so looks like we are going to try and sail it. Only hope was Redbull but we aren't able to use the slipway for some reason.

Please can anyone help with the logistics of this? Need a use of a slipway within reach (no lock closures) of congleton please, to use a trailer for transport. Or Can anyone suggest a lowloader/crane ( to lift straight off the canal) that is affordable? I have had info that its not simple as permission needs to be granted from CRT for this? Launch again in Burscough area. Thankyou!

Thanks for your help..much appreciated. We did a manual tilt of the outboard using a piece of wood wedged in the mount. Perhaps we should stay moored until it rains ..

Munching through mud lol! Well at least I know that was normal. Re: the boat Draught..not sure is the honest answer. She's a Dawncraft 25. 3ft 6 rings a bell but means little at the minute. Steep learning curve ahead.

We bought our first boat last week and are excited to try a small run to the nearest pub and back but really worried about water levels. We have a gpr cruiser with an outboard but could feel the propeller catching in the mud at our first attempt so abandoned the trip! Can anyone near astbury on the Macclesfield canal give me an update on canal conditions please? Thanks
