  1. Spare time on a narrowboat, not in this lifetime. Eg A simple job say clean the bilge pump. Estimated time one hour, add one hour for tools you remember you need when you are nose down in the bilge, plus add one more hour because as soon as you start a job the whole world wants to talk to you. Please put your spare time in a bottle and e-mail it to me Cheers Alan
  2. Although the Grundfos is a very good pump I think that it will to too expensive because this work is experimental. The strainer is a very good idea. I am surprised by how much rubbish is circulated in the heating system. I am interested in the air separator. If I can be a little thick for a moment why three outlets? I, in my ignorance, would have thought two would be sufficient one in, one out, and a release valve for the air. Electrical consumption is not a problem I am a fair weather sailor and spend 90% of my time tied up back and front with springs! Consequently I am usually on a shore line, with an invertor if I get a hot flush and find myself actually boating. I must say I do like the pictures they make everything crystal clear for the academically challenged thanks Cheers Alan
  3. OK I have plenty of time but at the moment I have a mind to put in a 240v pump. Thanks very much. I will now turn my attention to pipes, pushfit fittings, rad sizes, etc.
  4. First things first. This is a great site. I am in the middle of renovating my central heating. Actually its all in theory at the moment the practical part will start in July. Question Is there any objection to sustituting a 240 circulating pump( 31 pounds) into the system instead of my Ok but expensive (148 pounds?)Bolin pump? My Bolin may well have passed away when I start my practical work. I am a little worried about a 240v pump being over the top for such a small system.
