  1. Same in my Viking ,the shower is lined in the pvc panels that were cut to size, water is supplied from a paloma , the drain is taken care of by a whale gulper, head room is a bit of an issue but its fine for the shorter person (the wife) but its better than no shower, i did remove the step the toilet sat on to make more room, you do have to remember to remove the loo roll first though, pretty sure I have a picture, I'll try and dig it out.

  2. Unfortunately not, pretty dissapointed that we didn't spend more time up there but the wife's health meant that we needed to move it closer to home, cheers for the offer and sorry I didn't get back to you to update you on the situation , it took almost 4 months to get a bss test ,after a disastrous failure and unable to get the guy back to check it again after the work was done..

  3. My viking has a four piece folding windscreen, two of the four sections have gone cloudy and crazed in certain areas, I did try and polish these when I bought the boat and then did come up pretty good but now they are looking worse than before, what is the best thing to replace them with ? Heard about Lexan, perspex, acrylic , is lexan another name for perspex? aparantly one is better and more resistant to weathering but unsure if its acrylic or perspex ??

  4. Just an update, marina bridge has plenty of clearance, lift bridges are tight but doable if I'm carefull , found an easier way to drop the canopy as long as nobody is sitting in the cockpit so should be fine in the tunnels , I'll find out for sure tomorrow, rather do it now whilst its quiet out there..

  5. Glad to see you both back and are now looking for a new boat, I like the sound of your ideas and I hope you can achieve your dreams but as time is obviously precious to you I have to agree with the above post, can you not purchase something like a narrow beam Viking and just get out and enjoy the waterways then maybe buy something similar that you can have on hard standing and can work on and convert over time , best of both worlds then, something you can just turn up and use whenever you want even if its just a day or two cruising up and down , then the second one can be worked on whenever you have the time/cash/enthusiasm and no big rush to get it in the water, you could spend time researching the best equipment/batteries or other systems you may want whilst still being able to be onboard something that is usable for now, my boat is a work in progress but we are still able to use and enjoy it for now, in the future we will need to look at wheel chair adaptions or even a different boat but as time is ticking at least the wife can still enjoy the canals ..

  6. A few months back I had a slow speed collision with a bridge that jumped out on me , apart from losing a fender I didn't really pay much attention to it, just visited the boat to winterize it and now that its gone a bit green and mouldy I can see that the gel coat has cracked and has crazing around the impact area, what is the best way to repair this?? Not the best pic but if you zoom in you can see the damage just below the cleat and above the ball fender

Depending on the height of the canopy of course but I would suggest take down the canopy, tbh combined with the flow there are some other bridges/tunnels which are likey to cause issues anyway

A touch less than eight foot, which other bridges are lower??, excuse the ignorance but it was a bit of a last minute decision to move it here and we have not really researched it too much despite it being pretty close to home..

  8. Anybody moor at Blackwater Meadow ,Ellesmere?? Just wondering about the height of the bridge at the entrance to the marina, I'm moving my boat there in the next few weeks and was wondering if I could fit through with the canopy up, its a proper faff to take it down so hoping I can get it through when its up,
