    Not my experience at all.

The Sea Searcher beats those more lightweight offerings every time in my book.

Our Sea Searcher even pulled out the very heaviest of the builders trolleys that can be found at canal-side branch of Wickes.  No way would one of the lightweight ones do that.

Pretty sure the sea searcher has a 65kg pull force, even a cheapo £20 eBay one has at least twice that, mine range from 200kgs to 400kgs and there is not much we have left behind.

  2. Back on track ,the canal around Chester is a lot safer for boaters, numerous bikes, mopeds, trolleys have been pulled out over the last year and now I'm slowly working my up and down the Llangollen, almost everything has been removed from the towpath apart from one or two things belonging to CRT ,they were informed and removed within a day or two , would you rather see a rusty canal closed sign on the towpath or tangled up in your prop.. More magnet fishing the better imho

It shouldn't pass one at the moment with that gas tap to the water heater unattached to anything other than  a length of unsupported gas pipe.

I think I would also be a bit concerned about the vertical surface to the immediate right of the gas hob, which also seems to have its more powerful burner on that side.  If that burner is run fairly hard, will it not be in danger of getting very hot?

Wasn't aware that was an issue, it is supported further along out of shot ,but I can add a further clip if that's what you recommend, no mention of it when it was checked but happy to make any changes, regarding the surface to the right it is a lot further away than it looks and is more than the recommended distance and doesn't get more than slightly warm, its had the same layout since 1986 just been modernised slightly

  4. Just had some work done by W+T, needed a galley upgrade and a step/storage thingy making to make access easier for the wife, still work in progress but a couple of pics of how things are progressing

Will update when its all finished but gives you an idea of the kind of work he does

good point, just havnt got around to it yet. Just popped out and set the battery settings properly and reading are spot on. not usre if i need the OVP and LVP settings though. I have set them at 10.7v and 13.6v. I dont get the battery level indicator yet either as when you set the battery up at say 100% the battery level indicator goes to 100%, and say set it to 50% then it drops to half.  It doesnt move, yet. I mite stick the heater and  lights on for an hour or so and see what happens.

How are you getting on with it now you have had it a few days? I've just ordered one to have a fiddle with, did it come with a usb cable if so how long was it and is it a std size usb both ends?

Absolutely. Hit the nail on the head. Jason, you will get a lot more support on here if you did this - and looked for help - rather than try to do things that will be time & money consuming and likely to fail. From what we read about you, you love to get stuck into projects that challenge you. Believe me, just buying a boat and sorting out the day to day issues will give you plenty to occupy your mind - as a novice to boating you will be fully occupied. We were. Toilets, engines, batteries, window leaks, ropes, anchors, ecofans, hot air heating, gas bottles, fridges, stoves, water pumps, tv antennas, ......it never stops. Buy a boat :banghead:

I'll second that, even our boat that was in good condition is still an ongoing project, gas locker relocation, diesel tank for the eberspacher, new whale gulper for the shower, led lights, and I'm now in the process of making new steps to make access easier, plus the little jobs like ,tunnel light tripping its breaker ,canopy leaking through the seams, windscreen crazed, its a never ending list of jobs that will keep you busy

  7. Jason why can't you just buy something to get you both out on the water, forget about the big ideas just buy something you can use, we bought ours knowing we would only have maybe a couple of seasons use out of it, turns out things got worse quicker than we hoped so have now moved it closer to home on the Llangollen, we have had nothing but negative comments since we moved it, but its what we have and I will ignore all of them ,as long as we have next spring/summer to enjoy days and weekends out then I will be happy, just get out there on whatever you can afford, plenty out there for a couple of grand just go for something simple ,a GRP with a four stroke outboard is cheap to buy and cheap to run, far better than the vr goggle nonsense, do the right thing and get her afloat asap...
