dpaws - a very interesting design you have there. Obviously you have been working on the same lines as myself: modern Narrowboats are not very boat shaped, and are therefore taking far to much power to move them with poor stability. My initial designs are similar to yours as regards your Amore Mia.
I have been working from designs originally done by Harland & Wolf for what are known as the large Woolwich and have not got to a final hull shape as yet - I am awaiting more drawings from the National Waterways Archive - but similar ideas to what you have produced - except I have a more pronounced and longer mid ship section and a slightly different underwater shape at the stern.
Same target though - I can see no particular reason as long as canals are dredged to reasonable depths (which is what they should be) why at normal canal speeds of 2.5-3 knots you cant drive the boat with 1-2kw of power, potentially far less.
I am planning to have fresh water and black water tanks under the cabin sole, 6'2" headroom, 2'4" draft (static - perhaps 2'8" with squat) while keeping to a static air draft under 5'6". current investigations say this is possible but I am still working on it. Only six months in!
