  1. yes it's the only symptom I have, maybe a good idea to check the cap as well thanks for helping
  2. thanks that explains a lot so basically the tank acts like an expansion bottle in a car, next question is how much water do I put in it as I have had water being forced out the over flow in a steaming jet, am I over filling and mistaking this for over heating
  3. skintank and dry I belive

    header tank

I have a bowman heat exchanger on my bmc 1.8 which I want to service, how do I get to the tubes and wats the best way to clean them and what am I looking out for as in damages thank you for any help you can offer
  5. yes I checked everything but I will go back over it tomorrow
  6. problem started months ago and I've been trying to resolve it ever since.I did change the fuel filter and housing at the same time I can't see any leaks front the fuel filter so kind of counted that out.
  7. fuel filter changed a few months ago

    over reving

I have a bmc 1.5 which is over reving in neutral when the engine is up to temperature it idles normal when cold also when engine is worm the engine will rev up then down without me touching the accelerator. fuel injection pump has been reconditioned and been bench tested and all is working A1. is it possible that the engine is burning engine oil?? on start up there is blue smoke but under load this dissappears.if engine oil is being burnt how would it be getting into the cylinders??
  10. Changed the pump when some of the rubbers on the heat exchange split so I changed the water pump as well just because the pump looked old so thought it wouldn't do any harm but it was over heating before the pump was changed
  11. I don't know to much about mechanics im just an amateur who will have a go, all I did with the water pump was to unbolt the old one and replaced with the new one I wasn't aware that there was anything else to look out for
  12. The two water cooling tanks I have don't have breathers, how would I fit them and would it make any difference??
  13. The only pump I have is the water circulation pump on the engine which was replaced 4 weeks ago
  14. Header tank is full I have two hoses coming to and from the engine one is an inlet the other outlet there's also a connecting hose connecting both tanks so making the circuit I felt all hoses and both tanks today and everything was just as hot as each other nothing is cooling down and is getting hot to the point where water is coming out of the top of the header with the pressure. If everything is hot then water must be circulating
