  1. Hi guys....decision made I've gone for the Millers superfleet, read up and it ticks the boxes thank you one and all.
  2. Thanks for the help everybody, I now have a better understanding of what I'm after.
  3. Thanks Rusty that appears looking at it, is the stuff already running through' its veins. Think you've found it.
  4. Thanks Giant I've looked at this and it doesn't give an alternative/modern spec for CC grades. Does any body know the modern spec ?.
  5. I've seen that Webb site and it only confused the matter. The engine is a yanmar barrus shire built circ 2000. The handbook states use oil 10w30 with API CC (DO NOT USE ANY OIL ABOVE CC ...IE CD,CF).
  6. Could be the baby. Do you know what the suffix SE is. The only reason I ask is the engine has always run on 10w30 api CC with no suffix SE. Is this the modern version of CC.
  7. I am looking for some 10w30 api CC engine oil. Any one know a source, or recommend an alternative. Cheers
  8. I've found it, (the plug hole) never knew there was one, thanks folks. Got myself a cheapish drill pump which cleared the remainder in about half an hour. I suppose for the amount of water (20buckets) it could have been there for years, it was orange. Cheers.
  9. I recently noticed a damp patch on my carpet. On further examination ie. ripping up the carpet, removing the pipe boxing and boring a hole in the plywood flooring and bailing out some 20 gallons of water. I've also drained all the water system. It seems to have done the trick. All I can think of is that we had a pretty bad chimney leak a couple of years ago could so much water ingress be responsible. Have any other members had a similar problem.
  10. Thanks for all above. Seems that all only confirm my scenario. My new thoughts are sand down the lettering then prepare and paint a smaller oblong panel in a contrasting colour (ie. Cream ) so that no matching up needed and put decal over. One thing I ain't going to do is put our names on and pass the problem on.
  11. We've had the boat just over 12 months. The people we bought it off had there names painted on the sides. They are unfortunately not our names. So question is how do I remove these names. I know it will leave a mark of some description and I am willing to replace will some sort of decal. Any ideas how to remove with minimal collateral damage.
  12. Anyone got one or opinion of a fireglow stove. Seems fairly cheap for a cast iron stove.
  13. Cheers BEngo, sorry about the delay holds and internet probe. Tried a small fire, C.O. alarm went ballistic. Me thinks a new stove is needed. To go to all the trouble as you described and still it leaks. Bullet between teeth I'm going in.
  14. Hi everybody, to answer Bills question, the bank was reading 75% on smartgauge when I turned on the power. Zenatoamm, it cost £129 for the lot, but I already had the extra cable and the drill and 6mm taps required to fit it. W+T I have yet to find that out, but I only bought it to charge the batteries whilst away from the boat everything else will be a bonus. I am fairly sure it will recharge my phone, tablet etc. If you want to run the fridge, heating and other appliances the a much bigger unit will be needed say 400w.
  15. Hi all, a couple of weeks back I asked the forum for advice on solar panels. Having digested the comments I went ahead and bought one. It was a Bosch xplorer 100w. This I fitted myself easy peasy with a bit of splicing. Cheapish regulator. Revisited a week later and heh ....according to smart gauge 100% charged. I have to point out I am a leisure boater so cruising will be my main power provider. So my tip for fellow newbies is fit one.
  16. Cheers barnacle, I have a supply.
  17. Okay fella's thanks. So 5mm holes 6mm tapps, SS hex head screws sicaflex adhesive on threads .....jobs a good in Cheers.
  18. I was thinking more of water ingress and would they need sealing. I suppose it will do no harm. Just a thought will 4mm roof thickness give enough purchase for the bolts. Maybe some adhesive will be needed.
  19. Thanks cuthound. So a 6 mm tap required. SS hex HD bolts. Would you use any sealant.
  20. Hi all, I intend to fix four small brackets to the roof of my nb. A single 6mm bolt to secure each. Can anyone suggest a good method of doing this. Cheers.
