Jacks has been bought by a new person who is currently doing a major re-fit. Believe it will be opening end of October. Hand Hotel in Chirk not bad and a new bar/restaurant now open called the Courtyard. Sun Trevor Pub good too but nearer Llangollen. Chain Bridge has opened again so a walk up to Horse Shoe falls then back over the Chain Bridge and steam train back to Llangollen is a fab way to spend a couple of hours. Chain Bridge Hotel is a good pit stop too.

A few years ago now whilst going up Tyrley locks a teenage boy arrived on a bike and helped us up the locks with one of these. I asked him why he turned up and he said that he just loved the canal and the locks. He lived nearby.

What laundry detergent do you think is best in terms of being environmentally friendly. I think there is some sort of eco range but can only find the washing up liquid type.

If you look up Jack Mytton on Facebook and 'like' they keep giving updates and pictures of the re-fit. Opening seems to be a couple of weeks away. Its known locally as Mad Jacks.

If you moor at the other side of the Chirk tunnel you are about 2 mins away from a train station and Chester is about 30 mins away. Try the White Hart pub in Ellesmere. Traditional Ale pub. No food but have a word with the landlord and you may be able to have a take away in the lounge.
