Hi All,
This is my first post, I have one of the last SM Hudson shells built by Steve Hudson.
My boat was started in June 2014 and the build was suspended upon Steve's unfortunate death in December 2014.
The company went into administration and we only had brief contact at the end of January to say the intention was to complete all the boats in production then cease trading, to my understanding only a few boats possibly 2 were completed as they were quite advanced in their build stage.
I received a letter from the administrators a few weeks later asking me to collect the boat in its current unfinished state.
My boat was the last shell built that was fitted out to a first fix stage, insulated and lined, the 2 very last shells built by Hudsons after mine apparently went to Pipers to be completed, I wouldn't have thought they were far advanced beyond steelwork.
I had a very bare Lister JP3 engine block and cylinder head, Flywheel and original fuel delivery unit unserviced, fitted with some serious negotiation with the administrators representative, We also had to have a considerable amount of Roof and Cabin lining boards replaced as they were bowed and pulled away from the framing.
We could not get the administrators to agree on getting the engine completed or obtain the parts required without considerable extra cost, we had lost a considerable amount of money, and they expected us to pay further!
I have currently had the lister taken out with a RNDM2 about to be fitted by another builder, whom I might add has not asked for inflationary stage payments but instead only requests payment upon satisfactory completion of works.
Now for the nitty gritty.
Can anyone help with Wiring plans? or electrical details? for a 67 foot or similar hudson with boatman's cabin and engine room, shower/wc room, cabin, galley and forward saloon. The boat has a design very close to Nb Brigand recently reviewed in Canalboat, All the first fix wiring is in but the administrators rep would not help us with wiring layouts or diagrams, he said the electrician fitted it all from memory!
I dont doubt with a good electrician and a lot of time we could deduce all the wiring hanging out of the walls and ceilings but a diagram/layout would be a great help.
Also does anyone know the capacity size and location of the Calorifier?
I had great admiration for Steve, his boats stand out with his quality marked on them, unfortunately the administrators couldn't bring my boat to the standard he always achieved, I remember standing at the back of the boat when it was a half built shell, Steve said to me "Look at those lines, perfect" he was very passionate about his work, and I for one will miss him.
