I've got 3 24v panels all wired in parallel going to a pwm charger. the plan is to increase this to 4 panels, change to a mppt charger and wire them in series / parallel configuration. If the charge controller can handle the voltage would stringing them all in series be better than 2 pairs connected in series? cheers carl

tonight's plan it to repair the leaking hose then I can hopefully run the engine. i'll have a measure but I'd guess it will be lower than normal engine temp.

just bought a chassis mounted bi-metallic NO switch that trips at 90 deg. contact rated 10Amps. only cost £2.80

This morning I ran my engine for half hour to warm my water tank up. I ran the tap and it was still cold. Turns out the boat temp gauge was way over 100 and most of the water in the cooling system had gone! I found a pipe which had been rubbing on something and was leaking. So my question is can you get a water temp gauge with a relay or something that connects to the low oil pressure buzzer. Hope my engines ok

Bit of a thick question bearing in mind this is 1st tv. The avtex tv has a regular aerial and a satellite aerial, do you get many more channels to make it worth while?

Does the mag base work well on the curved roof?

Is anyone knowledgeable about the MKV format used to store movies in on a usb hard drive that would plug into a tv? I'd like to find a 12v/24v tv that supports this. I've asked Avtex but go reply as yet. Does anyone have an Avtex tv?

I wonder if you want a portable system to drop into the bywash channel at the lock, with a longish cable to get back to the boat (you wouldn't want to moor on the lock landing, would you ....). Or else you could hide a couple of batteries behind a bush, to shorten the cable run. yes a portable system, ideally an alternator in a waterproof housing with a turbine inside a cage so it can be lowered into spill weirs with an armoured cable back to the boat. getting the thing to spin fast enough, I wonder if you could adapt a sturmey-archer 3 speed hub to give you something to tune the rpm

I keep looking at the sluice gates and seeing all that power going to waste. wacky idea but on my stretch the water moves depending how busy the lock is. soooo if you had a 6ft square funnel in the water would the water velocity increase at the funnel output spout - the whole thing is underwater facing current flow and attached to your stationary boat. slow moving water is pretty powerful, we got caught out tying up the stern without realising the bow was moving out, we couldn't stop it and took 5 people on the centre line to pull her back!

if you put up an opaque blind first you could then put a completely light proof blind over the top giving you the option of privacy with light or darkness. Obviously you need 2 poles to do this
