  1. Thanks Nightwatch, my house was on the dale in Waterlooviille !
  2. Thanks Laurie, I'm in love !
  3. Ah well, spoke to a chap at Frouds Bridge about a possible mooring, his first question was "are you going to live aboard" to which I replied "on and off", so no mooring for me there then. Hand over on Tuesday, Tara will be officially mine I then have to plan to bring her as close to Southampton as possible, Newbury looks promising. I really have know idea how long it will take but that's part of the adventure. When I do decide (within two weeks from the hand over) do you think I should hire a skipper to show me the ropes?
  4. Complicated, I will be working as a carer in Southampton at weekends so will be on board from Monday till Friday, my client has kindly let me have his address as a land based residence so I'm not really sure if that counts as a liveaboard....I do plan to be a cc'er in a couple of years time, sooner if circumstances allow.
  5. Thanks for all the congrats and encouragement, my plan is to bring her from Crick to Aldermaston (Frouds Bridge), I haven't looked at a map yet to see how many locks there or how long it will take...but I don't think I care much, as the saying goes "suck it and see" .
  6. It was just a reflection on the photo, no marks, I'll be putting those on probably!
  7. Thanks Nick ,no moorings available at Copredy , any one have experience of Fenny Compton?
  8. Haggle i did and got a small amount off, but I'm happy, after looking for so long at similar priced boats this was the one. I'm going to try and get a mooring at Copredy marina.
  9. Bought her, now the fun starts, thank you all for helping me make it happen
  10. I will need to commute to and from Southampton at weekends for a while as I am a carer from Friday evening till Sunday night, so i really need to be an hour or two driving time away from my moorings. South Oxford could be an option as eventually I would like to cruise further north
  11. Going up to Crick on Tuesday, if I like her I will put a deposit down, after months of looking and the awful stress of selling my house lets hope this will be the start of a new life. I will keep you informed. I will looking for a marina down south, Reading, Aldermaston etc. maybe get a skipper to bring her down, getting ahead of myself here I know, but one has to have a plan.
  12. Excellent advise from all as always...thanks again
  13. Thanks Nick, do you think the scrape would cost much to rectify and maybe be a bit of a bargaining tool?
