  2. You used to be able to get "plumbers grease" which is suitable for hot and cold taps as it has a high melting point. I dont know if it is still available though as that was around 10 years ago.
  3. Hi All, As our engine is out at the moment and on Richards operating table,we are busy cleaning are Bilge area, and after reading another thread I decided to get some Owatrol for rusted surfaces. I went online and found a company called Promain, decent price etc, so I ordered two tins and also 7.5 litres of grey primer. I got an E-mail with a Fedex tracking number for next day delivery,so on friday the fedex man turns up with a small box containing only the Owatrol. I was a bit annoyed but hey ho I could at least apply the Owatrol,so off we went to Readig to start the clean up,then when I checked the tin it said Owatrol for wood. I E-mailed Promain and on Monday got a reply,no apology for the wrong Owatrol just that the grey primer was coming to us direct from the manufacturer. I phoned them and spoke to a really nice lady who apologised for the mistake, she said that they would despatch the correct Owatrol and that I could keep the 2 tins of Owatrol for wood. I'm well chuffed, and it just goes to prove that customer service does still exist!!
  4. Thats my Baby on the Operating table!!

  6. Hi all, We are fairly new to boating, we've had our boat for about 3 years on the K & A, and in that time we have seen some sights on the Canal, and I think you soon get a feel for what's right and wrong . We were being towed to Reading on Sunday, so we were tied up alongside the boat that was kindly escorting us,we approached a bend in the River which was quite tight and out of nowhere came a shiny Dutch barge which just carried on full pelt as if we were not there, our skipper Dan had to take evasive action forcing us into some overhanging trees and trying to cling on to Dan's bike and Solar panel which were in danger of being swept overboard. The etiquette on the cut in general I feel is superb but there are selfish and inconsiderate people in all walks of life and it just depends on how much tolerance we can afford to give to those who are less generous with their ability to embrace the freedom and beauty of human kindness.
