  1. The ads are not usually on ebay, they are on gumtree or loot and the likes.

when you contact the seller they get back to you with all the spiel and offer you a fake link to buy it now through ebay.

people think this gives them some protection but unfortunately that is not the case and once you have paid, your money is gone and you get nothing.

  2. hi, its been on the market 6 weeks but i have only had 2 viewing so it looks like ill be dropping the price soon , i have anti social scum next door to me

mines been on the market for 5 weeks and have only hsd 1 viewing . I have already dropped the price but estate agent said the shop next door is putting people off.

I don't think so. This is the territory where bargains really CAN be found. The buyer however needs to make it easy for the seller to take a really low offer.

Imagine two buyers, both willing to pay £19k for the £30k boat.

Buyer 1 wants a survey, has to sell a house to raise the money or apply for a bank loan, requires three viewings, a 4 hour test run and asks for a new BSS prior to completion of the deal.

Buyer 2 looks over the boat, starts the engine, and says within minutes of arriving "Yep, this one will do. I have £19k in my rucksack, but that's all I have. Here, have a look. I know it's a lot less than you wanted but it's all I have saved up so far. I can keep saving up, or if you want to get rid of the boat now, it;s all yours! Deal?"

Which one seems more tempting to the seller?

  4. Isobella from elon , who has just lost her husband is the favourite one.

The boat will be in a warehouse in the care of ebay, you wont be able to view but she wants your money up front.

A lot of cracking looking boats on other web sites such as gumtree and loot but for ridiculously low prices.

    These all scream SCAM.

Just like scammers then , full of sh**. :-))

  5. You only have to read the thread about Marcus boat thst has sunk to know what ths boating community is all about.

The amount if help and support he has received has been truly moving. Every boater I have spoken to has always been warm and friendly. I dont think you get this living on a street .

  6. Hi paul,

I have had a procession of scummy neiggbours for the last seven years. I have wanted a boat for many years now but a combination of three teenage boys and not enough equity in the house has prevented me until now .

kids have now moved out and have some equity.

Peace is what I crave and yes john have spent some time aboard and loved every minute of it.

I am aware that life aboard will be tough at times and there will be cold damp and miserable weather but I can honestly say I have never looked forward to something as much in my life .

Frankly, your pace of life is a state of mind, and nothing to do with whether you live on a boat, or not.

Once you get a boat there will be many more things to stress you out than in a house. Emptying the full bog, filling the empty water tank, running out of gas, cleaning the stove chimney, finding somewhere to park the car, trudging half a mile up the towpath with a ton of shopping, finding the money for docking and blacking every three years, keeping your BSS up to date, paying your licence, finding the mooring money or constantly moving and worrying about getting on the CRT cc radar....

Might be best to take your house off the market if you like a quiet life

    ;)

    Hi Mike ,

When I say quiet life I do mean quiet. I have had eight years of hell living next to people who have no respect or thought for any body. Sometimes being kept awake most of the night. I am craving some peace and know that life aboard will give me this .Emptying the bog and trudging the towpath etc...will be notthing but a pleasure compared to what I am having to put up with at the moment. The house will stay on the market.

  8. Not thinking of buying it . My house has just gone on the market so my search for a boat will soon be stepped up, I had never heard of this construction so it caught my eye.

I will definitely be looking for something more conventional. But it does look a nice boat.

  9. Fantastic post .You sir are a true gent.

Hello Northern boater, You've charmed yourself straight into my 'top ten most lovely
I've been regularly embarrassed by my relative lack of experience... And warmed & humbled by the many great people who've helped me out along the way.

I'm looking forward to one day being an old salty seadog, who can share my experiences with others...

In your heart of hearts you must feel like a bit of a weasel, so I don't want to lambaste you too much. I believe in karma.. But none the less, I wish you all the best, and you're welcome to come for a cup of tea when she's shipshape again! You provide the charm, I'll provide the cupcakes. Deal?
