  1. Hi All

As you may have read it's under 5 weeks before we have our holidays and this year we are doing the Worcester ring so that intakes the river Severn and the Avon .

We have been narrow boating for about 8 years but the only river we have been on is the river Soar

    so the question is

Can anyone give us the do and don'ts on the rivers IE mooring up over nights and any other info welcome

  2. Havent decided on the paint yet. Harrison rollers? Are they foam or mohair. Assume as there are 2

of you they are 4" ?

Like to do this on my own if possible. I know i can paint it ok,but the finish is obviously important, which means speed of application is important.

    hi

The foam ones 7" are for the primer and the mohair are 4" for gloss

we do paint in a heated paint shop

I will try and get you some roller numbers tomorrow

  3. OP

Are you planning on doing this? If so, a "round" 4-plait is probably more convenient than a "flat" 3-plait.

BTW - knots weaken rope in proportion to how "tight" the curvature of the knot is - usually close to wrapping the rope tightly around itself. Plaiting has a much larger radius of curvature (at a guess a 3-plait is 5+ rope diameters) so it won't weaken the rope much. For reference, whe "worst" knots take ropes down to about 40% of its nominal strength. I'd expect a 3-plait to take it to 90% or 95%.

    Hi Gordias

No i will not be doing this i was talking to a mate today about this and we was just wondering if it strengthened it or not

  4. . Probably best to get the two week ticket as its only an extra tenner and its to nice a place to rush through, or go when the Stratford river festival is on and they do a discounted ticket for a month

That would be lovely if we had the time but we only have 2 weeks holidays so we are doing Worcester to Gloucester then back to Tewkesbury and on the Avon ring back to Worcester clapping.gifbiggrin.png
