On the odd occasion I encounter asbestos seals in boilers I wet them with WD40 to trap loose fibres.
How dose WD40 trap fibers ? Mike

We did the droitwich this last July and it was very quite ,
There were not many passing places as it is very over grown.
I my self would not want to be based on that canal
and i agree with all above post's

No.
He did a test in a pedalo but wasn't satisfied that the amount of weed just below the water surface was safe.
What I found even more unsafe was the amount of people (mainly giggly young women) wandering around in the traffic crossing the bridge above trying to do selfies with Guy below them in the distance ......... idiots!
Thank you for the answer

Hey I just googled 'scruffy narrow boat' looking for a less shiny boat and a pic of MY boat was returned in the results!!
Damned cheek, that Google bloke...
Nice pic though, I'd want that boat had I not previously bought it five years ago
Mike is that you driving the boat, its a bit of a shock after thinking you was on your avatar photo

I talk to myself and some times get the wrong answer

After reading most of this thread i am pleased the boat has been found and recovered
On the security side i would think a tracker fitted / good big locks and bars across cabin doors and lock engine covers so thieves cant get to the engine / batters etc
Lock the steering and a steel plate locked over the ignition key panel and lock the gear lever just for starters excuse my pun
also use different keys for each lock not locks to pass in other words more locks the better

This year we were given a diagram from the mariner we got the boat from and i showed you should go past diglis junction and down past the weir into slack water before doing a 180 turn

Edit: to add. If the OP is thinking about getting off the Severn at Worcester and into the basin at Diglis, be prepared for the turn towards the locks. Some maps/diagrams make it look like a 90+ degree turn off the river, but you actually need to continue downstream past the lock entrance and then make a 180 degree turn to get alongside the lock landing facing upstream. The two Diglis locks between the river and the basin are manual, user operated and are wide locks with big heavy gates. Slightly confusingly, the manned lock on the main river downstream of these is also called Diglis Lock.

Very sad news RIP
We came that way on Sunday morning and all looked ok with the locks
And it looked like there was another boat that had been under water at Droitwich basin
-
If it had a tracker fitted it would have been a lot easier to find
I am very glad you have got the boat back
I say chop the thieves hands off

Hi all we have had a fantastic two weeks the weather could not have been better .
We started from Worcester marina and up the W&B to Birmingham were we stopped there for two days mooring next to the sea life center ,
From there we carried on up round the black country ring up to Fazeley Junction -Fradley Junction- Great Haywood and down to Autherley and on to Stourton Junction
from there we carried on down to the Droitwich turning and down the Droitwich canal and back to Worcester
all in all two fantastic weeks with lots of stops for lunch dinner and drinks in the pubs.
