Ok after repairing and painting buses for 28years the paint we use does a fantastic job
and maybe I should not have used the word etch and just said primer

Ok I submit we do use it on aluminium but we also use it on steel and it works well on both
some of the old buses have steel panels??
-
Well you learn something new every day ? It defanetaly says etch primer on the paint we use at work for painting buses
they are hand painted with rollers and brush
jacko???

Primer is a etching paint to eat into the steel you will only need one coat the next thing is the under coat that gives the top coat( gloss ) it's body and two coats is better then one the water proofing is the gloss and the finishing cover
and don't forget to give it a rub down with 240 wet and dry paper between each coat to do it right it should have 24 hours between coats

As you say it's a bathroom window I'm guessing its frosted glass could this be a factor.?
What I will say is the smallest of taps on toughened glass will break it

Having worked in the car industry, toughened glass can go bang without warning. If toughened glass has chips on the edge (usually from manufacturing) or if there are scratches on the surface and the glass is stressed - examples- by part of the glass in full sun and part in shade or if the frame twists as the metal gets hot, and bends the glass a bit, the stresses are concentrated around the chips or scratches and just sometimes it goes bang to release the stress.
This is very true I work fitting glass in buses glass often comes with small chips on the edges and can cause the glass to break

Hi
Locks are not new to us we have been narrow boating for about 10 years up and down the country and was looking for some where we had not been before
As you say there is always that chance of getting stuck some where we did a few years ago on the marpel locks
thanks

Hi all long time
This year we did the Warwick ring and two things seem to stand out this year to us
no 1 people seem to love parking on tight corners
no. 2 people seem to love shouting slow down from private boats even when we where on tick over
the funny thing is that the boats that speeded past us where private owned boats not hire boats
Apart from this we had a fantastic two weeks holiday and look forward to next time

We was on the upper themes last week and there was two old life boats one behind the other
I would have thought a reciprocating saw would be good to use

Hi all
We have just got home today from two very very hot fantastic weeks going from Aldermaston wharf on the K&A and up the upper Thames and onto the oxford canal and back again
the weather was 28 -30d every day we had 2 fans with us but the best thing was to moor up in the shade to keep cool
