  1. hi guys,thanks for all the responses. meadows seems to be the maker no sure its is ninety years old though. oh what a loss the demise of this once great company they made engines for everything. now i need your opinions.i supose these engines get more rare every day ,i was going to throw it in to one of my old boats now i am thinking may be i should let some one else have the responserbilty of restoring it. On ebay completed listings there is a original bottom end for a meadows 4ed that sold for eight thousand pounds.i dont expect this to be such a find, but at the upton feastival this year i met the former owner of the russell newbury engine manufactorers, very passionate about the history of these great old british companies as many of us are. so what you think, do i chuck it in a old power boat called journeyman.or sell it so someone else can enjoy my engine arh, inerested in all your thoughts.

  3. All you say makes sense I thought that might be a pump on the gearbox the pull start is operator the starter you can just see the handle

Hi thanks for the info and your responded I will upload pictures asap the pull start works with a lever that engages the pull cord into the fly wheel at 90 degree to the starter motor the engine and gear box turns great idea.the engine has been stood for years but I recon it would start first time.thanks for the feedback pictures
  6. How do you upload pictures it a funny engine made me laugh There are two large brass screw thumb on rocker cover the oil is a aluminium shaped casting with a wingnut it turns to cover

Hi can anyone identify this engine as far as I know it came from a birchwood boat it is a petrol 4 cylinder marine engine It has a pull start on the fly wheel and a starter it has no engine marks it might be an engine they used it may be a replacement about 1960a it has Lucas distributor. I am not sure how to add pictures so describing it is difficult help thanks
