  1. What they can or cannot do is makes no difference. They will still do it and who is going to take any notice of you? Sure you could sue the chief constable if you have the money and time to waste. As for the cannabis, I'm quite happy doing coffee and tobacco but don't think it's worse than booze, certainly think my council tax could be better spent than harrasing someone smoking weed.
  2. I kayaked from Bournemouth to Totnes and back along the South Coast. 260 miles with a dog sat between my legs. That was plastic too! I think I can manage a saunter down the canals. At least I won't have to pitch a tent or get wet in the rain.
  3. Quick question. 6'10" beam Dawncraft 27 on Coventry Canal. Would there be a problem with that beam on the Oxford and then on to the Kennet and Avon Canals?
  4. thanks for the tip. I'll give them a call
  5. Thanks everyone for your advice! I checked and it's been abandoned in marina. they are selling to recover charge. I double checked and it's 55pw to keep it there wwhich is to rich for me on a punt. The search cotinues and no double I will be picking your collective brains again before long. Thanks again I do appreciate you taking the trouble to post.
  6. I saw one for sale on gumtree but problem is it's in Ireland. 800 pounds.
  7. No i checked their website. That's what it is. plus extra 10 pw to liveaboard. It's what's putting me off. I wonder if i could get a safety certificate by disconnecting gas, temporary licence and insurance and move her somewhere cheaper.
  8. good points which is why its so handy to discuss it with knowledgeable people on this forum. its possible to liveaboard for extra 10pw. which is good. i am thinking less than a k for it on the basis i wouldn't cry if i lost that.
  9. I have a 9.9 Honda for 400. 4 stroke. not sure if enough power but for canals thought it would be enough. if i glassed the roof would that not solve the problem? storage seems a bit steep, what are my chances of finding it cheaper?
  10. I had to laugh at that!!! On the other hand if the hull is sound and i am strapped for money is this not in some ways the only viable option to liveaboard? I am never going to have 10,20,or 50k and i don't mind roughing it. What figure would you put on it? As for the engine i think its probably scrap anyway but i could pick up another outboard for sensible money. bearing those points in mind what do you think? good point but not really a deal breaker.
  11. Last time i was looking for a boat and the advice i received on here was to give it a miss. it was the one that had been sunk. it went for 1800. The consensus was not to touch it. luckily i didn't after reading your posts. However i have found a 30ft 6feet10in fiberglass hull boat at willowbridge marina. its on ebay and the seller is rgoosey. its listing is completed project boat grp with engine if anyone wants to view the listing. i have no internet so using phone otherwise i would paste a link. the boat is red and blue. i know some members on here use willowbridge marina. does anyone know the boat and thoughts on the storage charge of 45 plus Vat pw. would paste i get storage cheaper elsewhere. as usual thanks in advance for your help.
  12. Thanks for that. If I can get it at the right price it will be worth it.
  13. It was river water so fresh. Not under for long, hours as opposed to days. Dragged under by her mooring so i presume when the river flooded. The people who recovered her I presume knew what they were doing with regards first aiding the engine. Can I presume that if it's still running it won't be a major problem? Yeah I just looked at the post and there is a lot of presuming before anyone comments. lol
  14. There is a boat being offered for sale which has sunk. It's a fairline 25. Has an inboard diesel engine which was first aided and is running. How much of the interior would need to be stripped out? What are the pro's and con's? Thanks for any advice.
  15. Just googled your suggerstion and looks to me like a Creighton. What I love about this site is the vast knowledge base of the members. No sooner have you asked a question than you get replies which saves hours of research. Thankyou!
  16. Can anyone identify this make? It's a canal boat and 27 ft. Did have an outboard not sure if originally it had an inboard. Thanks
  17. "some would say why travel on a 180 mile round trip but we didn't have a garden and wanted to give him a nice resting place". I understand!
  18. Nice to know so many cats living on boats. Thanks for the replies and advice. That's put my mind at rest.
  19. That's the one. I took the measurments from that so presume it's 7.9 Like to see you do that. lol No, I don't know him.
  20. I'm single and have a dog and two cats. I suspect if people heard me having long conversations with them they would think the same way. It beats talking to yourself though.
  21. That's the boat with a different configuration. It has a aft cabin and is 22ft. I think it is trailable, but I don't have a trailer or car. I could probably get some keen quotes from Shipley.com.
  22. That was a pretty comprehensive post. Thank you for sharing.
  23. One quick thought, is there more navigable waterways in the north for ths beam than in the South? If that's the case I may as well leave her there for a few seasons.
  24. Which now begs the question on what experinced people on here think is best, West or East Coast?
