  1. Can you provide a link to this report?
  2. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=63650
  3. Sorry, but there have been Byways Open to All Traffic for a long time, and new ones are still being created. You are possibly thinking of what used to be RUPP's (Roads used as public paths) which are now Resricted Byways. Carl, if you check your OS map you will still find they use the full description as above in the Key, but agreed it is generally shortened to just the first word. The full 5 words appear on the Definitive Maps and in legislation.
  4. I have checked!! It is on the Definitive Map as a BRIDLEWAY, but residents and land owners of property along the lane have access. Whether that includes visitors to the marina depends on what was said in the Planning Permission for the Marina.
  5. Car Tax hasn't existed for years. It is now called Vehicle Excise Duty.
  6. But that was the charge agreed to, and apparently suggested, by the Trade Organisation for the marinas nationally!
  7. Do you have any personal evidence for this supposition? And if it's in NBW it must be true!!
  8. See my post some time ago about the access rights and the possible LEGAL use of the bridle path.
  9. We got banned by Ted Lord for turning up on motor bikes and then complaining the beer was off! Next time I'm down your way I'll give you a shout. My friend's Mum and Dad still live in one of the row of cottages to the south of the Tidal Basin.
  10. John, It used to be a regular haunt of mine back in the 70's. Introduced to it by the son of Mr Coward down at the Docks, then we used to go on the Sunday nights for the folk nights that used to be held there. Probably one of the best pints of 6X in the area, and as for their cider................................ I think we were some of the "favoured" sometimes as we used to get homemade bread, cheese and pickled onions some visits, normally when it wasn't busy. Never got on with The Arms, further down thev lane though. Happy days.
  11. What, jump off at Upper Purton Bridge, run down to Auntie Kath's in The Hunt, then jump back on at Lower Purton Bridge?
  12. From the amount of rain that has fallen on us up here in the last 24 hours, the Severn will be even more up below Stouport in 2 days time!!
  13. I wonder how many other profiles MrPL has been visiting here? He visited mine at 1235 on 23/01.
  14. Ms Pepper is obviously a fan of Winston!
  15. George, not only are you patronising, you are also bloody rude! Goodbye.
  16. Earlier, the vehicular access rights to the marina were queried. I have had a look at a few resources and it appears that although the access indeed does appear to be a Bridleway, there is "allowed" access to the residents and visitors of the properties on and along the lane. Whether this was formalised when the marina was first opened however I cannot find out. Certainly the Sewerage Works and Quorn Fields Farm have access rights. Ditto the owners of land off the lane.
  17. So please explain EXACTLY how CaRT have a monopoly? I get the impression that actually you are argueing for argueings sake!
  18. 1/ Why and how? 2/ How, when CaRT don't own most of the non-towpath side? 3/ Isn't that basically what we have now?
  19. They don't even need to do that. I'm sure I've read somewhere that a very heavy chain stretched across the entrance and padlocked is legally sufficient to form a barrier.
  20. What? Are you serious? If the marina has no access to the canal (or river) it isn't a marina, it's a pond!! And if CaRT is a monopoly, how come there are other \navigation authorities, a list of which has been provided?
  21. 1/ Are there really enough licence holders in the Marina who pay £180,000 per year to CaRT? 2/ Remember that in the first year of PL paying the NAA he does not pay anything, and in the second year he only was supposed to pay 50%. Only in the third year did he have to pay the full annual amount, so that was a nice little "earner" for him. CaRT have been the biggest financial losers in this, not PL or any of his other companies.
