  1. Might have stood on the exhaust pipe recently and broke it. oops!

It never been the most quite and looks quite old, and i am sure if i unwrap the lagging tape, it will fall apart.

So i plan to remove and fit a new one, would like it to be less noisy than was but no idea where to start, engine is a nanni if that makes any difference?

    What options do i have?

We have a couple of the Unibond Aero moisture traps on board and they do collect quite a bit of moisture over the winter months. It won't cure your problem but it might help.

You need to ventilate the space and provide a dry source of heat.

Getting a window vac might help as well.

Whenever we are onboard our cruiser we keep the windows and hatches cracked open to provide lots of ventilation in the cabin and keep condensation at bay. It doesn't mean the cabin is cold either. We have two of us breathing and creating moisture in a 23ft hull and we don't get any condensation problems in the cabin.

Make sure your bilges are dry as well.

ETA: there are the moisture traps we use:

I have one of these in the bedroom above the bed, they do collect a fair bit over the weeks of winter, for the cost they are worth it, get a couple i would advise,

Amazing! 8:30 at night - strange glugging sounds, loud cracking noise from the thick ice surrounding our boat and an uncomfortable pitching and swaying.  Out of the darkness, at full pelt comes the ironically named 'Brotherly Love' When I realised what the commotion was I leaned out the side hatch to ask him to slow down- only to receive a hurl of abuse about how he'd run out of water and I could fxxk off. Drunk as a skunk he backed up to offer further flowery threats, fisticuffs and continued his tirade. After I declined the offer he steamed off again, still ranting loudly, into the night. As I said, amazing...

Wonder why he was heading to hawkesbury, Lime kilns is nearer to his moorings i would have thought..

Seen the boat a few times, never seen the owner though.

I'm sure somebody has mentioned on here some modern cold fill only machines 'sulk' and throw up an error if the element does not kick in during a hot wash, (or have I dreamt that?)

Not sure, mine works like a dream on the new Chinese invertor, the old victron couldnt cope and used to trip out during the wash.

Boaters must leave 16 feet between boats when mooring to allow fishermen access – even on established visitors moorings with limited spaces, everywhere?? i have only seen mention of this once!

Painting 'Duck-Lanes' and signs saying "don't mention Orange sauce, it frightens the ducks". No bother or hinder to a boater though is it?

And many, many more.... can you list many many more?

I would go further and say the greater the pressure a pump has to act agains the higher its current consumption - not something I would have though ideal on a boat unless its always on a shoreline.

Also plastic pipe seem to expand more that copper and sag when hot so will probably need boxing in for aesthetic reasons.

How much does speedfit expand when hot, does anyone know?

Even these are unaffordable to some.

I know - lets just give anyone who wants one a 'free house', but then they have no job or income & cannot afford the 55" TV and internet access so lets make that free as well, where does it end ?

Hows the view from up there...

So, Katty, between us we've forged through the jungle of CART regulations and come up with this:

    - Unless there is a sign saying otherwise, you can moor for up to 14 days in one place.

    - If there is a sign restricting mooring to a shorter time period (48 hours is the most common, often at popular tourist spots), then do not moor for longer than the sign tells you.

    - Do not ever* moor in the same place continuously for more than 14 days, or CART may take action against you, which may ultimately result in your being refused a new licence, and you need to have your boat licensed to moor or travel on their waterways.

    - At the end of 14 days you must move your boat to a new "place" - which, as you'll have gathered, is open to interpretation.

Here again there are exceptions, for example if (Heaven forbid) you break your leg and can't reasonably move the boat. I think I'm right in saying that in such circumstances you should let CART know as soon as is practically possible.

I have to ask, how long have you been boating?

    Slightly bonkers though isn't it?

By placing VMs in the middle of flights, then putting "don't moor in lock flights" in a boaters guide they are completely contradicting themselves.

So should it say "only moor in lock flights if we have decided to provide VMs there"?

As has been pointed out permanent moorings exists in the Braunston and Buckby flights, (and indeed at many places on the system, Calcutt and Hillmorton being other nearby examples).  How can you reasonably issue guidance that says "don't moor temporarily in lock flights", and then grant permanent moorings within lock flights?

The mooring situation at somewhere like Audlem would be pretty unsatisfactory if you were not allowed to moor in flights.  Or Atherstone, or Curdworth, or.......... The list is a long one, isn't it?

How about the water point on lock 4 at Atherstone, never understood the point of that....

Ahh, different pub. The Chetwynd Arms is fine. Great Cantonese food and proper beer... but LOUD!!  Run by a young couple at present and they get a younger crowd in. When I go in it’s usually a pint of Pedigree while I wait for my takeaway. It’s probably our closest pub.

just googled the whitestone/hayrick, never even knew that was there.

Another pub to add to my list of Nuneaton pubs not had a pint in.....
